Job Summary

The Enterprise Project & Fab Leader is a highly respected professional and mentor with strong field credibility. This person has demonstrated Prefabrication & Fabrication expertise in Mechanical piping Plumbing Sheet metal/HVAC and has prior experience in Project Executive Operations Management Fabrication/Prefab leadership roles. Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing routine oversight and mentoring of an assigned selection of operating companies. ECS HQ is based out of McLean Virginia. However candidates in other locations and meeting the requirements below may be considered.

Compensation Range: $175000 - $225000

This position is bonus eligible.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Visit operating companies to assess and support project teams and fabrication processes (up to 40%-50% travel).
  • Assesses execution rigor and field performance.
  • Support operating company with turnaround situations where execution is the issue.
  • Help operating company enhance productivity and predictability in the field.
  • Strengthens prefabrication and fabrication integration.
  • Mentors and provides guidance on local projects or fabrication shops.
  • Evaluate and support operating company project teams and fabrication operations with improving project control systems.
  • Participate in activities to support faster stabilization of new acquisitions.
  • Transfers best practices across operating companies.
  • Develop a project execution playbook that embraces autonomous processes while maintaining common standards to serve as a roadmap from procurement to completion emphasizing project forecasting accuracy project margin predictability and stronger prefab utilization where appropriate to ensure projects remain on budget and on schedule.
  • Understand when prefab adds value and when it does not.
  • Improve coordination between fab shop and field teams.
  • Evaluate shop productivity and workflow and support operating company with improving processes.
  • Strengthen material flow and readiness.
  • Participate in activities to support faster stabilization of new acquisitions.
  • Align prefab strategy with estimating and procurement.
  • Ensure installation teams are prepared for prefab integration.
  • Assess and support operating company with project and fabrication cost tracking and forecasting methods.
  • Evaluate and support operating company project teams and fabrication operations with productivity measurement approaches.
  • Support project teams and fabrication operations with labor planning and crew sizing.
  • Assess and assist operating company with developing/improving fabrication shop workflows.
  • Support fabrication operations with prefab integration into field operations.
  • Evaluate and support project teams and fabrication operations with schedule management discipline.
  • Assess operating company change order management processes and identify opportunities for improvement of processes.
  • Support project teams and fabrication operations with field reporting and communication cadence.
  • Transfers best practices across operating companies.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Position Requirements/Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in engineering construction or related areas of study or field experience; and minimum of 10-15 years experience in Mechanical Piping Plumbing Sheet Metal/HVAC. Experience must include prior experience as a Project Executive Operations Manager Fabrication/Prefab Leader or Senior Project leader working for a $100 million contractor. Experience must include:

  • Successful leadership of larger projects specializing in Mechanical Piping Plumbing Sheet Metal/HVAC work. Fire Protection experience a plus.
  • Market/Sector experience managing Data Centers/Mission Critical Advanced Manufacturing/Semiconductor Large Healthcare Complex Commercial Construction projects.
  • Demonstrated Prefabrication & Fabrication expertise.
  • Experience managing large complex multi-trade projects is strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to high-reliability environments (schedule quality critical) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of integrated fabrication strategies strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated System & Technical Competency evaluating and improving project controls systems cost tracking and forecasting methods productivity measurement approaches labor planning fabrication shop workflows prefab integration into field operations schedule management discipline and change order management processes.
  • Experience with project execution playbook development that streamlines workflows and standardizes processes for project or fabrication operations in the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of leading projects while maintaining a commitment to Ethics and Safety.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Experience with Accubid Procore Bluebeam or other construction software.
  • Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.

Language Skills

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English cooperate and collaborate with multiple levels of customers employees unions government agencies vendors and suppliers and other contractor organizations.
