The Moses Lake School District is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position ofSummer Weight Training & Conditioning Coach for Moses Lake High School. The Moses Lake School District is committed to teaching and developing useful life-long skills in its student-athletes and strives to provide the best opportunities possible for each student-athletes success.
The Position
This position is an excellent opportunity for an exceptional coach who has demonstrated the abilities skills and knowledge to lead a quality weight training and conditioning program. The Weight Training and Conditioning Coach directs the high school summer weight training and conditioning program which includes the Varsity Boys 7-12 Girls and 7-9 Boys sessions.
Contract Term
Summer Season (6 weeks- July to August)
THE CONFERENCE:
Moses Lake High School is classified as a 4A school by the WIAA and is a member of Columbia Basin Big Nine Athletic Conference (CBBN). Other CBBN member schools include Eastmont Davis Eisenhower Sunnyside Wenatchee and West Valley (Yakima). The CBBN awards league championships in 22 sports and has a solid reputation as one of the most competitive and successful conferences in Washington State. CBBN teams are consistent participants in WIAA State Championships in various sports and activities.
Goals and Responsibilities of the Position:
- Work with the building administrators to see that the Moses Lake Athletic Program conforms to the rules and regulations of the Moses Lake School District Moses Lake High School the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association and the Columbia Basin Big-9 Athletic Conference.
- Establish and coordinate the summer weight training and conditioning program.
- Schedule organize direct and supervise summer workout sessions.
- Schedule and coordinate athletes attendance and participation during summer sessions.
- Accompany and/or be in attendance at all sessions for proper supervision and evaluation of athlete performances.
- Be conscious at all times of concern for safety. File an accident report for each injury. Treat all injuries with discretion rendering first aid and follow up on the status of each injury.
- Keep the parents of student/athletes informed of activities expectations and the status of their children.
- Exercise sound and discretionary judgment relative to the direction of the summer weight training and condition program at all times.
Required Qualifications:
- Hold a valid First Aid Certification Card and a valid CPR Certification Card or possess them by the beginning of practice.
- Meet and maintain the WIAA Coaching Standards requirements.
- Any combination of training and experience which qualifies the applicant for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Maintain a balance of social academic and physical development of students.
- Effectively teach weight training conditioning speed and agility skills.
- Maintain professional relationships with students parents and colleagues.
- Demonstrated emotional stability and control.
- Effective coordination of the summer weight training and conditioning program with all athletic programs and school staff.
- Confirmed evidence of positive role modeling for students and a demonstrated ability to promote self-esteem and self-worth among students.
- Confirmed knowledge and compliance with the rules and regulations of high school athletics.
- Supported emphasis on appropriate safety precautions and practices.
- Effective communication that focuses on a clearly defined philosophy which emphasizes ethical competition sportsmanship leadership and citizenship with students parents staff and community members.
- Verified coaching techniques in the area of scope and sequence of skill development safety teamwork strategy interpersonal relations routine training and workout organization.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- WIAA standards require all coaches to complete sport-specific WIAA coaching standard courses by the third week of the season.
