GTA is recruiting for a Senior CAD Designer/Drafter to support our Fiber & Small cell drafting department. The candidate shall have experience creating site plans permitting construction drawings and as-built drawings as it pertains to outside fiber in the ROW and small cells. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of common telecommunications terminology and familiarity with network fiber underground & aerial fiber plant road and highway plans and familiarity with NESC CPUC and utility pole standards. The CAD Drafter will be a key member of the Fiber team that comprises of engineers designers and drafting technicians. Must enjoy working in a fast paced high-growth rapidly changing project environment.
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with a design team of drafters and OSP professionals reporting to Project Manager on resources and scheduling as it pertains to projects
Collect and manage all information required to create quality designs and drawings from initial survey field notes to final permit and construction drawing submittal
Coordinate and communicate with internal Professional Engineer Project Coordinator and project team to ensure all drawings comply with industry local jurisdiction and client standards
Create accurate permitting construction and as-built drawings for telecom projects utilizing engineering notes field data sketches and/or other drawings
Source local existing utility drawings as-builds and shape files for import to Autocad
Support the onboarding of new drafters into the department
Organize and maintain revisions of project drawings plot files and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner
Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor Degree in engineering CAD technology or equivalent.
Strong civil engineering or telecom background civil or outside utility design preferred with experience in drafting fiber in ROW and drafting small cell utility pole designs.
5 years experience in AutoCad Civil expert level Release 14 or higher.
Solid working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D as it relates to layer management template designs library management and the ability to import and export various files into various software
Thorough understanding of public right-of-way as it pertains to private easements existing water gas and electric utilities
Ability to read and interpret construction civil drawings and substructure maps
Strong ability to prioritize projects and drafting resources
Detail oriented and committed to a quality control process and file management systems.
Proficiency in MS Office suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Comfortable with Google Earth GIS or other mapping applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
