Schedule: Full Time (Split Role: 50% Estate / 50% Farm)
About the Role
Were looking for someone highly capable and self-directed to take on the day-to-day care of two adjacent properties in the Capital Region: a private family estate and Forts Ferry Farm.
This role requires excellent communication skills strong practical skills sound judgment and the ability to work independently. You will be responsible for noticing what needs attention addressing it and keeping both properties running without requiring constant direction.
This is a role for someone who takes pride in doing things properly and follows through.
Scope of Work
Estate (Approx. 50%)
Maintain a private residence and surrounding property to a consistently high standard
Conduct regular inspections and address issues before they become problems
Oversee general upkeep organization and seasonal transitions
Ensure systems structures and grounds remain functional and well maintained
Farm (Approx. 50%)
Working with the Forts Ferry Farm team:
Support ongoing farm projects repairs and infrastructure
Maintain buildings fencing equipment and systems
Assist with seasonal work and shifting operational needs
Contribute reliably to both planned and unplanned work
Maintenance & Repairs
Perform general repairs (carpentry light electrical plumbing mechanical)
Take ownership of small projects from start to finish
Diagnose issues and implement effective lasting solutions
Contractors & Oversight
Engage and manage contractors when appropriate
Ensure work is completed correctly and to standard
Maintain clear communication and accountability
Organization
Keep tools materials and workspaces in order
Track maintenance and ongoing project needs
Maintain straightforward systems that support the work
Response & Problem Solving
Address urgent issues promptly and calmly
Make sound decisions in real time
Prioritize long-term solutions over temporary fixes
Communication
Provide clear concise updates
Raise issues early
Follow through without reminders
Qualifications
Relevant experience in property estate farm or facilities work
Strong working knowledge of construction maintenance and repair
Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Comfortable handling a wide range of physical tasks
Valid drivers license
Able to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions
