Context
Systra Canada is currently seeking an experienced Cable Design Lead to support the planning design and delivery of Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects across Canada.
Missions/Main Duties
To undertake Cable Design for an LRT Project
Profile/Skills
Diploma or degree in Electrical Civil or Structural Engineering or related discipline;
8 years experience in the design of cable containment (trays conduits duct banks) for rail/transit or industrial projects;
- Professional Engineer () or Certified Engineering Technologist with significant experience in selecting cables and their installation and testing for rail transist systems.
- Knowledge regarding containment / route design for major infrastructure would be beneficial.
knowledge of routing constraints constructability maintainability and separation requirements for power signalling and communications cables;
experience coordinating with civil structural architectural and systems teams.
Required Technical Knowledge
Working knowledge of the following standards:
Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC)
CSA C22.1 Canadian Electrical Code Part I
CSA C22.2 Electrical Equipment Standards Part II
CAN/CSA C22.3 No. 7 Underground Systems
Applied knowledge in:
Cable temperature ratings
Ampacity calculations and derating
Conductor sizing (AWG)
Wet-rated and sunlight-resistant cable requirements
Pull box spacing and conduit fill limits
Separation requirements for different cable types

NECA 1 Good Workmanship in Electrical Construction
NECA 101 Installing Steel Conduits
