Detailed Description:

The French Studies program in the Department of Languages Cultures and Literatures is seeking non-tenure track faculty to teach lower-division Frenchlanguage courses in Fall 2026 (starting September 1st). Classes are taught Monday Wednesday and Friday on campus.

Please note that positions will be hired at the Lecturer level. The course load in Fall 2026 is 1-2 courses (i.e. 3-6 units) with a possibilityof additional courses in Spring 2027 depending on enrollment needs.

These positions are included in the Non-tenure Track Bargaining Unit and the successful applicant employees subject to the terms of the Colleges Collective Bargaining Agreement will be bargaining unit members and will be subject to the Universitys Agreement with SEIU Local 721.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will:

  • Have native or near-native fluency in French hold an MA or PhD in French or a related field (e.g. second language acquisition linguistics)
  • Demonstrate experience with languageteaching and/or teaching at the college or universitylevel.

Background check: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.

Posting Salary

Compensation for this position will be paid on a bi-weekly basis at a per-unit rate of $2581-$2659 commensurate with qualifications.

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience education and other factors including departmental budget.
