About the role
The Head of Learning Area HASS and Languages provides strategic leadership across curriculum teaching and learning staff mentoring student engagement and departmental operations.
This role is responsible for fostering a culture of academic excellence innovation collaboration and continuous improvement while supporting the holistic development of students and staff within a Christ-centred environment.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and mentor HASS and Languages teaching staff
- Drive curriculum development aligned with WA Curriculum WACE ATAR and SCSA requirements
- Analyse student achievement data to inform teaching and intervention strategies
- Promote innovative engaging and inclusive teaching practices
- Support staff development coaching and performance growth
- Champion student engagement through enrichment and co-curricular opportunities
- Manage departmental resources budgets and administration
- Contribute actively to the strategic direction and broader life of the College
About you
- Experienced secondary HASS educator with strong curriculum knowledge
- Proven leadership experience in curriculum and staff development
- Passionate about Christian education and servant-hearted leadership
- Strong communication organisational and interpersonal skills
- Skilled in data-informed decision making and educational technologies
- Able to foster a collaborative accountable and positive team culture
- Committed to supporting the wellbeing and holistic development of students and staff
Essential requirements
- Bachelor of Education (or equivalent) with relevant Humanities qualifications or experience
- Current Teacher Registration Board of WA (TRBWA) registration
- Working With Children Check
- A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ
- Active participation in a church or Christian community exemplifying Christian beliefs behaviour and practices
- Acceptance of the Colleges Statement of Faith
- Ability to build cooperative and supportive relationships with the Board Principal staff students and parents
- Commitment to personal best practice
- Ensure decisions are impartial fact-based and fair
- Model appropriate and proper channels of communication
- Consistently act in the best interests of the College and its ethos
- Adherence to all policies and procedures outlined by SCBC
- Commitment to maintaining a child-safe environment in line with the Colleges values and policies
