Job Summary
Under the direction of the Standardized Patient and Simulation Director the Simulated Patient Technician (SP Tech) will assist with the coordination of Standardized Patients (SPs) and provide technical and organizational support for all SP events. They will also work with faculty and students before and during SP events as needed to support effective learning and assessment activities.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with the Standardized Patient and Simulation Director in the oversight of SP-student learning events to ensure seamless execution.
- Under the direction of the Standardized Patient and Simulation Director duties may include using and operating medical equipment (e.g. otoscopes ophthalmoscopes blood pressure cuffs task trainers etc.) and assisting with the setup and breakdown of student programs and activities as needed.
- Act as an embedded standardized patient in simulation after training is provided.
- Anticipate scheduling technical and supply issues in the Simulation Center and coordinate with the Standardized Patient and Simulation Director to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
- Work with program faculty and students before and during SP events to ensure an effective learning environment and successful assessment activities.
- Under the direction of the Standardized Patient and Simulation Director provide feedback on clinical skills modules simulation case scenarios and program materials as needed.
- Under the direction of the Standardized Patient and Simulation Director use simulation center software (i.e. SimulationIQ) to support the management and execution of simulated patient events.
- Under the direction of the Standardized Patient and Simulation Director and faculty assist with training other Standardized Patient instructors for select student programs and activities as needed.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a standardized patient working in a healthcare profession simulation center.
- Ability to work well under pressure set priorities and make critical decisions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding job assignments and sensitive issues.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and require minimal supervision with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work with internal and external individuals from different disciplines and different training levels.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills that can be applied to simulation software following training.
- Ability to memorize and retain aspects of a prepared clinical case.
- Ability to work flexible hours on a per diem basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology.

Additional Information
This is a Part-Time per diem position classified as offered pay is based on the successful candidates qualifications and experience departmentbudget and an internal equity review.
