Preble Street is currently seeking a full-time Teen Services Street Outreach Specialist to work as part of the Teen Services Outreach Team. Teen Outreach is embedded within the larger Teen Services team and works with youth and young adults ages 12-24 providing services 24/7/365. This position will be primarily community-based supporting the Street Outreach program however will also have required shifts within Teen Shelter Services to support youth across programs.

The current schedule for this position is Tuesday-Saturday 9am-5:30pm; some earlier morning hours may be required.

  • The primary role of this position is to coordinate facilitate and conduct outreach and engagement activities in the community and at the Preble Street Teen Center.
  • Street Outreach Specialists provide short term case coordination for clients including connections to basic need services and longer-term case management support.
  • In addition the Street Outreach Specialist is responsible for program documentation needs and coordinating services and support across Teen Services programs.


Qualifications

A bachelors degree in social work or related field or a Bachelors degree in another field and one year of relevant social work experience is required. Qualified candidates will also have an understanding of and positive regard for people who are experiencing homelessness; an understanding of social work theory and practice; familiarity with community resources; an appreciation of low-barrier service challenges; the ability to establish boundaries with a diverse population; good verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Eligibility for employment with Teen Services also requires that staff be at least 21 years of age; undergo and pass a physical examination which includes a test for TB; hold certification or become certified in First Aid (on-site training opportunities offered); provide proof of education (diploma or transcript); and have acceptable background check results including BMV. Teen Services staff also must attend recurrent regularly-scheduled trainings which are provided on-site. Reliable transportation is required for this position.

Compensation

This position offers competitive pay at a rate of $23.12 per hour. Additionally Preble Streets full-time compensation package includes;
