Job Summary
Key Accountabilities: Primarily focussed on Systems Analysis and preparation of functional specifications / User Stories the Business Analyst will also be responsible for contributing to System Testing and providing analysis and support throughout the full development lifecycle
Role & Responsibilities
- To act as the primary contact and source of knowledge for the offshore development and test teams for all matters relating to the business functionality on selected large-scale applications for the Public Safety market.
- To analyse customer requirements and to create appropriate high quality functional definitions for use by the development and test teams either in the form of Functional Specifications or User Stories depending on the development methodology being used.
- To provide a strong link between the offshore development/test teams and the onshore teams regarding business requirements and functionality.
- To work closely with the Product Owners/Product Managers and the onshore BAs to ensure that the software built offshore meets the necessary functional requirements.
- To work closely with the QA teams to ensure that the solution is adequately tested and that it meets the stated business requirements.
- To respond quickly and accurately to queries from the development teams regarding product functionality liaising with the Product Owners/Managers/onshore BAs as necessary to derive an appropriate response.
- To assist with the prioritisation of features to be developed.
- To Work with and assist the UK-based team in understanding categorising and prioritising internal and external change requests and defects.
- To assist in the preparation of system test plans defining test scenarios for appropriate features and collaborating with the QA team on the feature scope of the next release/sprint.
- To analyse and document business processes and workflows.
Essential requirements
- Ability to connect communicate and collaborate effectively with the end users and business team at onshore.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with members of development and QA teams at onshore and offshore.
- Ability to write present and articulate functional requirements either as formal documents for waterfall development or user stories for Agile methodology.
- A self-starter with an insatiable desire to resolve issues promptly and satisfactorily.
- Ability to analyse and co-relate multiple business functionalities with cascading effect across the applications for change requests raised by the customers.
- Knowledge of prioritising tasks estimating them and scheduling them based on sprints timelines and business priorities.
Desirable requirements
- Familiarity with Public Safety domain is preferable.
- Experience in Agile project development methodology particularly SCRUM which includes writing user stories managing product backlog discussing and finalizing on the sprint feature and taking the team through planned functionality for estimation.
- Review test cases prepared by the QA team.
- Provide day-to-day guidance direction and detailed clarification on the requirements/conflicts to the development and QA team.
- Promptly escalates issues which may impact scope and delivery schedules and come up with alternatives to contribute to their resolution.
- Implement and adheres to existing process and pro-actively suggest improvements and implement agreed process improvements to enhance performance productivity and morale of the team.
- Basic Knowledge of Estimation.
