Job Summary

Employment Status: Part-Time / Seasonal

Compensation: $850 stipend for the season


Summary:

The coach fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by developing initiating and administering the program in a particular sport which prepares the student athlete for interscholastic competition. The Coach is recommended to the principal by the cheer coach hired by the principal and evaluated in consultation with the athletic cheer head coach.


Organization Overview:

Mount Cheer Club is a competitive cheerleading program sponsored by the Archdiocese of San Antonio . Our team is a 5-time National Champion program dedicated to developing strong athletes and leaders. Participants must be students enrolled in Archdiocese schools with current athletes representing 5 different schools. The program serves students in 2nd through 9th grade.

  • Supports and adheres to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters


Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Cheer Coach to support our competitive elementary and middle school cheer team. This individual will play a key role in athlete development practice execution and competition preparation while helping maintain a positive and disciplined team environment.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and leading practices
  • Attend all scheduled practices and competitions
  • Help teach and reinforce cheer fundamentals including motions jumps stunting and basic tumbling
  • Ensure athlete safety and proper technique at all times
  • Provide encouragement and foster teamwork discipline and sportsmanship
  • Assist with routine review cleaning choreography and performance readiness
  • Support communication between athletes parents and coaching staff
  • Manage and supervise athletic activities contests and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills teamwork and good sportsmanship


Practice & Event Schedule:

  • Practices held Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Attendance required at all practices competitions and team events


Program Management:

  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes equipment materials and facilities
  • Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all rules
  • Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation
  • Work with head coach to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements


Student Management:

  • Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions including out-of-town trips
  • Instruct and advise students on regulations with regard to academic requirements
  • Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests practice sessions and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook
  • Encourage by example and through instruction sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Prior cheer coaching experience required (youth or school level preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of cheerleading fundamentals
  • Ability to work with athletes in grades 29
  • Strong leadership communication and organizational skills
  • Reliable positive and team-oriented attitude


Additional Requirements:

  • Must support the mission and values of the Archdiocese of San Antonio
  • Virtus background check CPR/First Aid certification required

  • This is a stipend-based position for the full season ($850 total)
