SPECIAL EDUCATION OUT OF DISTRICT LIAISON(Long Term Substitute - 05/11/26 to 06/22/26 Approx.)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Caseload & Referral Management: Manage the referral process to OOD schools for new students including sending referrals monitoring the process and scheduling placement meetings.
- IEP Leadership & Compliance: Serve as the Evaluation Team Leader (ETL) for all OOD meetings. Oversee and finalize IEP documents monitor timelines and ensure all paperwork is submitted for LEA review and signature.
- Evaluation Coordination: Work with the district and OOD schools to plan re-evaluations and oversee the special education evaluation process.
- Student Monitoring: Conduct annual site visits for each student. Provide ongoing monitoring of student progress issues and the implementation of IEP and ELL services at OOD placements.
- Communication & Liaison: Maintain regular communication with families OOD personnel the High School Guidance Department and the registrar regarding course selection and graduation requirements.
- Transitions & Agency Collaboration: Monitor transition services establish courses of study (diploma vs. non-diploma tracks) and facilitate 688 referrals to adult agencies.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain complete progress report information and OOD monitoring forms for every student on the caseload.
Qualifications
Education Training and Experience
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Licensure: Massachusetts DESE certification as a Special Education Teacher or in a related field (e.g. School Psychologist) for the assigned grade/subject levels.
- Demonstrated Experience: Proven track record in developing IEPs and implementing the special education evaluation process parents rights and current law/regulations.
Knowledge Required
- Special Education Law: Deep knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks special education paperwork procedures and legal compliance.
- Equity & Diversity: Knowledge of culturally diverse populations and a commitment to promoting equity and appreciation of diversity in a standards-based environment.
- Instructional Oversight: Understanding of effective instruction assessment and the integration of technology to support student proficiency.
Abilities Required
- Caseload Management: Ability to handle a large caseload effectively and efficiently while monitoring instruction provided by outside placements.
- Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students parents colleagues and administrators.
- Assessment: Ability to administer and interpret required student testing and assessments.
Skills Required
- Interpersonal & Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to facilitate complex meetings and maintain professional relationships.
- Organizational: Excellent caseload management and organizational skills to track multiple timelines and site visits.
- Communication: Superior listening speaking reading and writing skills
- Analytical: Skills in evaluating students and developing targeted goals and objectives to meet diverse learning needs.
Salary: As per the WEA contract.
