Join our FARMS Bureau
The FARMS Program is a cost-share reimbursement initiative focused on implementing agricultural best management practices (BMPs) that support both water conservation and water quality improvements. The selected candidate will assist FARMS Project Managers with activities related to the program and contribute to projects involving water resources and agricultural operations within the District. The FARMS Student Intern will perform general administrative and analytical tasks that support the program and will gain exposure to a wide range of responsibilities tied to the Districts mission. This part-time position is designed to extend across multiple semesters provided the candidate remains enrolled in school.

Compensation: $16.00 hourly
Essential Functions
- Compile and review data from established databases maps and publications
- Assist with data analysis of FARMS project performance
- Manage various Access databases
- Constructing ArcPRO maps for project presentations
- Assisting with outreach to the agricultural community
- Attending field visits to projects and potential projects
- Gaining an understanding of how the Districts regulatory function impacts the agricultural community
- Perform queries from the FARMS and Districts Regulatory database
Working Conditions
Employee works in a standard office environment. Occasional travel usually during the workday is required. Performs continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Occasionally lifts and carries objects up to 10 pounds. Occasionally requires bending and reaching above shoulder level. May spend time out in the field in remote areas. Possible travel to other offices. May be exposed to extremes in temperature and humidity as well as a variety of pests including mosquitoes and ticks.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Employee may be subject to call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours or required to be on call including on nights weekends or holidays to respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring rapid response in support of District operations.
Required Credentials for FARMS Student Intern
- High School Diploma
- Be at least part-time and currently enrolled in an accredited college university or other recognized educational or vocational program
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or a minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students
- Valid drivers license
Preferred Credentials for FARMS Student Intern
- Microsoft Office skills including proficiency with Excel
- Ability to work well on a team
- Ability to take on individual project assignments
- Preferred Degree: Agricultural Sciences Agribusiness Hydrology Natural Sciences or Engineering
- Preferred Degree Level:Undergraduate

The District will determine eligibility for employment solely from the information provided on a District employment application. Additional Details
This position is typically scheduled to work no more than 25 hours per week out of the Sarasota FL office. Interns are not approved for remote work; all duties must be performed onâsite or in the field.
