Electrical Estimator
In Miller Electric Company the Estimator reports directly to the Preconstruction Manager and is responsible for preparing cost estimates as well as determining the material and labor requirements necessary to complete a project.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Develop cost estimates from the takeoff stage through bid handoff.
- Perform detailed on-screen electronic takeoffs and markups using estimating software.
- Utilize ConEst estimating software and Bluebeam for all estimating functions.
- Analyze material labor equipment and subcontractor requirements for project completion.
- Read and thoroughly understand blueprints specifications and contract documents.
- Compute prepare and submit accurate and competitive bid proposals.
- Develop cost estimates and pricing for change orders.
- Maintain organized and standardized change order documentation; collaborate with project teams to improve processes.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing.
- Assess equipment costs including purchase and leasing options.
- Attend pre-bid meetings scope review meetings and site visits.
- Visually inspect project sites to determine labor material and logistical requirements.
- Meet and communicate with engineers customers vendors and Project Managers.
- Analyze project risks and identify cost-saving or value engineering opportunities.
- Estimate both large and small-scale electrical construction projects.
- Work effectively under deadlines and external pressure.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- One of the following:
- 68 years of experience with a High School Diploma
- 46 years of experience with an Associate degree
- 02 years of experience with a Bachelors degree
- Strong proficiency in ConEst Bluebeam and Microsoft Suite.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and low voltage systems.
- Ability to read interpret and evaluate blueprints and specifications.
- Strong mathematical analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess and mitigate risks associated with various project types.
- Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
PREFERRED
- Hands-on electrical construction experience.
- Experience with on-site mission critical projects (e.g. data centers hospitals high-availability facilities).
- Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
