Primary Purpose:
Develop the student as a person through campus wide PBIS implementation and social emotional learning instruction. Improve social and emotional competencies of staff and students. Provide modeling coaching and technical assistance to campus staff regarding social emotional and behavioral strategies.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Masters Degree in education psychology social work counseling or related field (preferred) Bachelors degree and experience may be substituted for Masters degree.
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate or a valid professional license to practice in the State of Texas
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of varied behavior management strategies de-escalation techniques Exhibit positive and collaborative relationship with parents administrators and teachers Consistent record of implementing best practices in emotional/behavioral-related issues Knowledge and application of counseling coaching and/or mentoring techniques
Knowledge of appropriate interventions for students with severe emotional and behavioral needs Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Working with individuals struggling in the areas of social emotional and/or behavioral skill development. Working with families and the community is preferred.
Providing group professional development and/or individual technical assistance.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Social Emotional Learning:
- Demonstrates a clear sense of the districts mission and SEL vision.
- Conduct small group social skills classes utilizing social emotional learning curriculum and instruction.
- Demonstrate self-control and exhibit a growth mindset.
- Create individual student plans to guide SEL growth.
- Familiarize self with most recent research/practice in social emotional learning.
- Provide teacher support to effectively design instruction to address student specific concerns.
- Provide direct coaching to integrate the principles of social emotional learning throughout the instructional day.
Positive Behavior Supports:
- Assists school staff in developing behavioral programs and/or interventions.
- Works with administrators and teachers in providing appropriate classroom strategies for behavioral success.
- Provide input for students behavioral programming and interventions.
- Design implement and monitor behavior action plans.
- Develops crisis intervention plans in collaboration with the campus team.
- Analyzes and interprets disruptive student behavior and provides recommendations for interventions.
- Collect and interpret student progress monitoring data in the areas of social emotional and behavioral development to support data-based decision making and reduce classroom removals.
- Model behavior that is professional ethical and responsible.
Campus Testing Coordinator:
Campus coordinator responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Serving as a liaison between the district coordinator and campus personnel for test-related communications.
- Collaborating with district coordinator principal and other district leadership to designate testadministrators and TELPAS raters proctors and verifiers as applicable.
- Training test administrators raters proctors and verifiers.
- Ensuring that all individuals designated to serve as raters fulfill their online holistic rating trainingand calibration requirements.
- Collaborating with district coordinators to train campus staff who are participating in the Texas Assessment Program.
- Coordinate with Technology staff to prepare the campus to administer assessments.
- Create a campus consolidation plan for transferring students who are still testing after a certain point.
- Prepare and distribute test materials on the campus for each administration.
- Schedule and coordinate administration activities on the campus for each administration.
- Ensure that students are appropriately tested including students receiving special education servicesand EB students.
- Ensure that all students are tested with appropriate and allowed accommodations.
- Monitor and maintain test security.
- Ensure that student data (such as score codes student responses student ratings and accommodations)have been submitted and processed in TIDE and RE before the end of each testing window.
- Preparing test materials for return to the district coordinator at the conclusion of test administrations.
- Reporting any suspected violation of test security to the district coordinator.
Classroom Instruction:
- Minimum of 4 hours per day assigned to students in the classroom.
Family and Community:
- Communicates effectively with students staff parents and community.
- Consults and collaborates with students parents teachers school staff and outside agencies when needed (with appropriate consent).
- Provides consultation to parents regarding: child development social emotional learning applied behavior analysis techniques and communication as relates to behavior.
- Designs and implements truancy prevention measures to support increased student attendance.
- Makes off-campus visits (home shelter community etc.)
Enhancing Instructional Environment:
- Assists in improving the instructional program through classroom observation modeling best practices participation in professional learning communities and professional development presentations.
- Maintains and improves personal professional competencies in order to improve others competencies.
- Conducts professional development in the following areas: data collections techniques social skills or ABA techniques social emotional learning visuals to support sensory and emotional regulation needs.
- Designs and facilitates professional development on the implementation of effective research based practices strategies and interventions for working with students to increase their social emotional and behavioral competences.
- Initiates and supports programs that facilitate a positive caring and orderly climate for learning.
Personal Responsibilities:
- Adhere to timelines and procedures
- Maintain schedule of services for assigned job duties
- Attend required District in-service and staff meetings
- Maintain student data records
- Maintain and report Medicaid paperwork as applicable
- Regular attendance
- Maintain confidentiality
