Job Summary:
The Summer STEM Academy Coordinator is responsible for the planning organization and
implementation of the East Valley Summer STEM Academy. This position provides leadership
for a high-quality engaging program designed to inspire students in grades 38 through hands-on project-based STEM learning experiences. The coordinator will report to the CTE Director and work closely with building administrators teachers community partners and parents to ensure a safe inclusive and innovative learning environment aligned with East Valleys commitment to preparing students to be Future Ready.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Development
- Coordinate all aspects of the Summer STEM Academy program
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and refine STEM curriculum and project-based learning activities
- Ensure alignment with district goals CTE pathways and STEM initiatives
- Organize daily schedules rotations and program logistics
Student Experience
- Ensure a safe inclusive and engaging learning environment for all students
- Support student participation engagement and behavior expectations
- Promote a culture of belonging curiosity and innovation
Operations and Logistics
- Manage program setup materials and supplies
- Work with CTE Director to coordinate facilities use including classrooms and shared spaces
- Oversee student registration attendance and communication with families
- Ensure compliance with district policies and safety procedures
Community and Partner Engagement
- Coordinate guest speakers and Lunch with Legends sessions
- Build and maintain partnerships with local industry and community organizations
- Support communication and promotion of the program
Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate
- Experience in STEM education CTE or project-based learning
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading camps extended learning programs or summer academies
- Background in STEM fields engineering coding robotics or environmental science
- Experience working with community partners or industry professionals
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced collaborative summer program environment
- Requires coordination of multiple activities and groups of students
- Ability to lift and organize materials and equipment as needed
