Receptionist – Main Reception & Day Stay

Your Position at St John of God Geelong Hospital

We are seeking a permanent parttime Receptionist working 40 hours per fortnight based across our Main Reception and Surgery Centre Day Stay supporting inpatient services. Shift times are rostered Monday to Sunday including weekends and public holidays with coverage between 6:00am and 10:00pm on a rotational roster.

The area specialises in frontofhouse services including welcoming and greeting patients and visitors admitting patients and processing payments.

The Receptionist is responsible for providing a high standard of support and assistance to patients visitors and caregivers as well as effectively directing enquiries to ensure a positive patient experience.

The Position

• Participate in handover between shifts.

• Coordinate telephone calls and messages promptly and professionally.

• Maintain patient records ensuring accuracy and currency of details including new born babies.

• Assist patients visitors and general public with enquiries and directions.

• Receive and create pre-admission forms checking health insurance details and notifying patient of any extra charges they may incur.

• Admit new admissions for the day.

• Maintain security of keys and key register.

• Distribute and coordinate ingoing and ongoing mail and faxes.

• Photocopying and other duties as required.

• Coordinate with the Manager HIS or Hospital Coordinator of any problems encountered whilst of duty.

You will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage confidential information in a professional and discreet manner. Strong interpersonal skills are essential including the ability to effectively relate to hospital staff patients families and medical practitioners in a respectful and supportive environment.

To succeed in this role you will demonstrate excellent attention to detail and strong problemsolving skills along with the ability to effectively prioritise and multitask within a busy and varied workload.

The Benefits:

• Salary: $60173 to $61903 per annum (pro rata for part time) plus 12% superannuation

• Permanent part-time role offering up to 40 hours per fortnight.
