Project Coordinator Safe Mobility
Job Summary
The Safe Mobility Section is at the heart of this mission providing vital leadership toward our Vision Zero goal: eliminating all traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries. We are looking for a dedicated Project Coordinator to join our Project Management team in the Safety Engineering unit and help turn evidence-based safety solutions into this role you will be on the front lines of change ensuring that our infrastructure supports the safety of all road users. As a Project Coordinator you will play a pivotal role in the lifecycle of Safe Mobility capital projects moving them from initial planning and design through to final construction. Reporting to a Project Manager you will be the primary point of contact for coordinating various project related activities and overseeing the implementation of various Safe Mobility programs ensuring they meet our high quality and safety standards. A large part of your day will involve collaborating with internal teams contractors and community partners to keep projects moving forward. You will also serve as a professional voice for the City responding to inquiries and ensuring the public is informed about project impacts. Your attention to detail and ability to solve problems in real-time site conditions will be essential to our success.
What will you do
- Lead the planning scheduling and delivery of Safe Mobility Capital projects
- Support public engagement and other internal and external stakeholder input and coordination for all phases of Safe Mobility projects
- Coordinate field activities and oversee Safe mobility installation and construction to ensure adherence to timelines and safety standards
- Conduct site visits and safety reviews documenting findings to monitor performance and specifications
- Maintain accurate project records track progress and escalate issues to the Project Manager or Program Manager as needed
- Ensure completeness and compliance of any technical documentation drawings and specifications
- Assist with financial tasks including cost estimation budget tracking and invoice verification
- Liaise with contractors consultants and internal departments to facilitate project delivery
- Respond to inquiries from community partners engagement participants and Council through established processes

- University Degree in a related field such as Engineering Architecture Landscape Architecture Environmental Science Business or Project Management with a minimum of 2 years of directly related project management experience
OR
- A Diploma in a related field such as Engineering Architecture Landscape Architecture Environmental Science Business Project Management or a related Trade Certification with a minimum of 4 years of related project management experience
Assets:
- Professional Project Management (PMP) certification
- Additional coursework experience or training specifically in project coordination or management
Skills required for success:
- Demonstrated knowledge of public engagement and project planning design and delivery practices
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations and municipal project standards
- Strong coordination documentation and communication skills to manage internal and external collaborations
- Proficiency with project management software and Google Suite tools
- Effective problem-solving and risk-mitigation skills especially when adapting to real-time site conditions
- Professionalism and patience when engaging with the public regarding construction impacts

Conditions of Employment:
- This position is classified as Safety Sensitive and may require relevant clearances or testing
- Ability to travel to various project sites across the City of Edmonton
Work Environment:
- This role offers a mix of indoor office work and outdoor field activities
- You will be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions and temperatures (rain snow heat)
- The role involves standing and walking for frequent periods during site inspections

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week
Salary Range: $45.611 - $57.269 (Hourly); $80355.180 - $100893.660 (Annually)
