Position Description:
The Food Services Dispatch Coordinator is responsible for the allocation and distribution of all food and supplies to the districts cafeterias.
Reports To:
Executive Director of Food Services
Scope of Responsibility:
Maintains Food Services software data base of all food items and supplies.
Communicates regularly with food brokers and distributors regarding the regular and emergency delivery of food and supplies.
Communicates effectively orally and in writing with Food Services staff regarding purchasing issues.
Resolves purchasing and distribution problems in a timely effective and efficient manner.
Prepares bid analysis of diverted commodities.
Coordinates the use of USDA commodities maintaining a perpetual inventory of raw and finished goods and reconciling it with outside data bases.
Places USDA diverted commodity orders with food brokers ensuring accurate and timely delivery of products.
Communicates with the state licensed storage facility regarding the shipment and withdrawal of USDA commodities.
Reviews all school requisitions for accuracy. Consolidates orders and distributes to appropriate vendor.
Reviews all vendor invoices submitted for payment verifying that quantities and pricing are correct.
Maintains detailed accurate records of commodity orders and invoices for audit purposes.
Conducts quality assurance reviews with schools regarding deliveries of food and supplies.
Participates in the testing and evaluation of applicable products.
Communicates with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry regarding the use of USDA commodities and assists with site visits.
Submits required inventory and cost reports to the Food Services Accountant.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Food Services.
Skills and Qualifications:

3 years of progressively increasing experience in Food Services program operations.
Competence in using a personal computer including the districts software programs.
Competence in using the Food Services software programs.
Knowledge of Food Services policies and regulations relating to meal pattern requirements.
Strong communication skills in multiple settings and the ability to be an engaging change agent and culture creator that can inspire and motivate.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations.
Collaborative communication style with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision-making and problem solving.
High degree of professionalism with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking.
High School diploma required.
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of inventory control.
Bachelors degree in Business Administration
Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required most of the work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing walking reaching bending lifting up to 50 pounds is sometimes required.
