Essential Functions
A classroom teacher:
- Develops and maintains a safe and effective learning environment;
- Plans and implements an instructional program designed to meet individual student needs;
- Evaluates student performance and progress;
- Uses necessary and appropriate instructional methods and materials which are suited to the needs of the students and to the nature of the learning activities program and/or curriculum involved;
- Establishes and implements in a positive and supportive manner clear classroom procedures routines and expectations;
- Provides for the personal and social growth of students;
- Makes referrals for assistance where appropriate;
- Participates in team planning focused on instructional practices and student learning;
- Communicates student progress to parents/guardians;
- Maintains appropriate student records;
- Directs the activities of assigned non-certificated personnel;
- Participates in staff meetings and other activities deemed necessary by the District and/or building principal in order to accomplish the objectives of the position and for professional growth;
- Work cooperatively with a building team in planning supporting and providing instruction and share with other staff the responsibility for supervision of activities and student behavior outside the regular classroom;
- Demonstrate positive relationship skills with students families and district staff maintaining ongoing and open communication;
- Encourage and provide the structure for ongoing meaningful involvement offamiliesand community members in the classroom and school;
- Use technology to provide challenging instruction to students of all learning levels and;
- Possess knowledge of and adhere to Governing Policies and District Regulations and Procedures.
Other Functions
- Serves on staff committees as needed.
- Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
Qualifications
- Must qualify for a valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements as required by law.
- Ability to implement classroom management procedures for large and small groups of students providing an environment conducive to learning.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and oral form.
- Ability to integrate relevant technology for the purpose of student learning across curricular areas.
- Flexibility and adaptability in varied conditions and settings.
- Ability to assess the needs of students and implement effective lessons to meet those needs through the use of appropriate instructional materials.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of staff and stakeholders.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students in a mutually respectful supportive and accessible manner.
- Ability to relate positively to students and adults of varying socioeconomic cultural ethnic backgrounds learning styles and/or disabilities.
- Ability to process information in order to make sound judgments and decisions.
Education:Bachelors degree in job related area
