Job Summary
Purpose:
Oversee critical accounting functions such as cash management endowment reporting and gift accounting to departments fixed asset accounting management; provide support to campus budget managers on systems and consult on financial and budgetary matters; support the VP and CFO with reporting to Senior Staff the Board and campus budget managers; help develop and manage the annual budget.
Summary of the position:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for financial management and support to the CFO the Controller and finance staff in the furtherance of meeting daily weekly monthly and annual financial tasks and objectives. This person ensures the Colleges internal and external accounting data are posted correctly consistently and in accordance with generally accepted principles and legal obligations. Moreover this person oversees the gift fund accounting from the Colleges endowment and other donor support cash management banking reconciliations accounting for fixed assets and end-user support for our major systems such as Sage Interact. This person is an intermediary with key campus constituents including Admissions/Financial Aid Development and other campus financial managers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial System User Management (Sage Intacct):
- Oversee the user management of the Sage Intacct financial system by ensuring appropriate access controls and user permissions.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of user roles and access levels.
- Provide training and support to staff on the use of Sage Intacct.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present regular financial reports for the CFO to present to senior management the Board and others.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
- Banking and Cash Management:
- Manage banking relationships and transactions.
- Oversee cash flow on a daily and weekly basis; provide routine forecasts of cash needs.
- Ensure the accuracy and security of cash transactions and balances by performing monthly bank reconciliations of balances.
- Endowment Accounting Management:
- Oversee the accounting management and reporting of endowment funds to support the operating budget using Fundriver Balance.
- Monitor and manage annuities and other investment portfolios.
- Ensure compliance with investment policies and guidelines.
- Accounting Support:
- Oversee daily weekly monthly and annual accounting tasks including:
- Ensure proper posting of transactions.
- Advise the CFO Controller and finance team on proper business process and systems controls and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Support budget managers and advise on budgetary matters.
- Advise on restricted funds (endowments gifts and grants) usage and proper accounting.
- Work with the Controller on the annual audits.
- Fixed Assets Management
- Maintain and update records of the colleges fixed assets.
- Conduct regular audits and valuations of fixed assets.
- Ensure proper capitalization and depreciation of assets.
- Capital projects financial management
- Work collaboratively with the VP/COO on capital projects budgets
- Provide support on bond funding and usage of all funding sources.
- Fundraising Support:
- Collaborate with the fundraising department to support financial aspects of fundraising campaigns and events.
- Ensure accurate recording and reporting of fundraising revenues and expenses.
- Provide financial analysis and reports to support fundraising activities.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Minimum Education Required:
- Bachelors Degree required
Minimum Experience Required:
- 5 years Accounting/Bookkeeping/Accounts Receivable or other relevant experience preferred.

Additional Qualifications:(Preferred qualifications)
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills strongly desired.
- Sage Interact and Fundriver experience a plus.
Summary Pay Range: Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors job level market location job-related knowledge skills individual performance and experience. Please note that pay is only one component of total compensation.
