Short Description
A Registered Nurse who has completed educational preparation in Wound Ostomy and Continence Nursing and demonstrates professional competence in this specialized nursing field.
Demonstrates competence and knowledge in assessment diagnosis planning implementation and evaluation of care for patients of all ages with WOC as consultant to all disciplines and departments area of expertise and patient population and participate on relevant committees and task forces as a clinical expert.
Develops system-wide protocols and procedures for WOCN nursing care delivery
- Ensures the delivery of patient care through the coordination of customer services and the
Leadership and management of the WOCN department
- Tracks WOC patient care delivery statistics and audits quality of care issues identified.
- Evaluates & recommends products and processes related to WOC nursing/medical care delivery
- Develops and manages wound care delivery across all care settings (Inpatient & Outpatient)
- Provides consultation for wound ostomy and continence using a multidisciplinary approach to treatment across a continuum of care and in a number of settings with direct recommendations to providers for treatments
- Improve practices and patient outcomes through collaboration on design implementation and evaluation of staff education and competencies including drills learning labs and introduction of best practices
- Advocate for best practices through the improvement of patient outcomes by advocating for individuals as well as populations within sphere of influence and area of expertiseincluding the selection of appropriate WOC related treatments technology () and products in collaboration with surgical specialties and value analysis
Education Requirements
Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.
License/Certification Requirements
Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse).
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR (Basic Life Support) Certification required.
Certification in Wound Care preferred
