Overview of the role:

We are transforming our Sofia studio into a high-performing Technology Hub focused on building scalable high-quality game development capabilities.

As part of this transformation we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in building and evolving our products improving engineering practices and helping teams deliver faster with higher quality.

This is a hands-on engineering role with growing technical leadership expectations. You will contribute directly to building systems while influencing how your team designs develops and delivers software.

You will work closely with engineers tech leads and product teams to solve complex problems improve development workflows and ensure we maintain high engineering standards.

This role follows a hybrid approach to working allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both while recognising that quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned.

What youll do:

Key Responsibilities

• Design build and maintain scalable high-quality software systems

• Take ownership of features and components from design through to production

• Actively contribute to technical discussions solution design and decision-making within your team

• Collaborate with product design and other engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions

• Identify and resolve performance scalability and reliability issues

• Write clean maintainable and well-tested code following best practices

• Contribute to improving engineering standards tools and processes

• Support and guide mid-level and junior engineers helping them grow

• Participate in code reviews ensuring quality and knowledge sharing

• Contribute to continuous improvement of the development lifecycle (CI/CD testing automation)

• Be proactive in identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement

What youll bring:

Engineering Expertise:

• Strong hands-on experience with:

• TypeScript JavaScript React

• Solid understanding of:

• Software design principles and patterns

• RESTful APIs and distributed systems basics

• Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and writing reliable tests

• Ability to debug and resolve complex technical issues

Modern Engineering Practices:

• Good understanding of:

• CI/CD pipelines and automation

• Version control and collaborative workflows (GitHub)

• Familiarity with Agile ways of working (Scrum Kanban)

• Experience working in iterative incremental delivery environments

Ownership & Mindset:

• Ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver independently

• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical solution-oriented mindset

• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively

• Proactive curious and eager to learn and improve continuously

Collaboration & Communication:

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

• Willingness to contribute to a positive engineering culture

Nice to have:

• Experience with:

• AWS Docker Kubernetes

• Exposure to high-scale or real-time systems

• Experience in the gaming / gambling industry

• Familiarity with AI tools and their use in development workflows

• Public GitHub repository or portfolio of work
