Salary: $20.00 hourly

Work Schedule: 40 hours/weekly (1.0 FTE)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Absence Administrator. The Absence Coordinator works closely with a team of leave administration professionals in a fast-paced department. Serves as an integral partner to leave consultants in facilitating leave activities including FMLA Workers Compensation and leave and attendance for the University while providing administrative support throughout the various leave administration processes. Coordinates and completes a variety of administrative tasks and maintains detailed and complex leave records in accordance with policies and procedures.



Responsibilities
  • Process unpaid leave paid cascades FMLA tracking Workers Compensation leave completes transactional processes and provide support to the team and employees in compliance with federal state and/or local laws regarding Family and Medical Leave Workers Compensation and other attendance and leave programs. Runs various queries and reports for the Leave Administration team.
  • Provides support andmeetsthe day-to-day Leave of Absence administrative needs of employees. Monitors thevariousemail boxes and responds timely and accurately to department requests.
  • Works collaboratively with the Leave Administration team HR Business Partners (HRBP) Benefits Payroll and/or other HR functional areas to resolve complex absence inquiries or issues. Must demonstrate good judgment in sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Maintains and utilize current knowledge of policies guidelines and employment laws across the University including the Tampa St. Petersburg and Sarasota/Manatee campuses and USF Health.
  • Completes bi-weekly leave calculations and reconciles audits of attendance and leave records. Completes other transactional tasks as required for Central HR on various schedules. Complete all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree -OR- equivalent combination of education and experience. 2 years of related experience.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree.
Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate ( is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:
(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience as an administrative assistant in human resources in higher education.

  • Ability to manage a large workload in a timely manner and prioritize and complete projects within deadline

  • Ability to prioritize and plan in a fast-paced high-volume setting

  • Strong attention to detail and prioritization of projects

  • Strong Microsoft Outlook skills and literacy in Excel and Word. Oracle HCM

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others and build strongrelations
