Whats your day like as a Registered Nurse (RN) Manager

As the RN Nurse Manager in the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board you will lead the coordination and delivery of psychiatric and medical services for individuals experiencing acute mental health and substance use crises at our BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center. Working within a multidisciplinary team youll oversee rapid assessments crisis interventions medication administration and ongoing clinical monitoring to help stabilize clients and reduce hospitalizations. Youll supervise nursing staff support the staff psychiatrist with medication management and ensure regulatory compliance while shaping health policies that promote safety quality and recovery.

What you need to be successful

To qualify for this position candidates must have the following:

• Registered Nurse with at least one (1) year of behavioral health experience including supervisory responsibilities and able to register as a QMHP trainee within 30 days of hire.
• BSN preferred.

Additionally candidates must have strong psychiatric nursing knowledge including administering psychotropic medications safely and familiarity with the DSM V. Leadership skills are essential for planning supervising and evaluating staff performance. Effective verbal and written communication accurate medical record-keeping data analysis for quality improvement and basic computer proficiency are also required. A solid understanding of public health community services agency procedures and counseling techniques is crucial for delivering high-quality care in crisis stabilization settings. Candidates should be able to build strong relationships ensure regulatory compliance and contribute to risk management and reporting efforts.
