An established and rapidly growing federal general contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee complex commercial government military and historic renovation projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Position OverviewThe Superintendent will oversee all field operations subcontractor coordination project scheduling quality control safety compliance and daily site execution for federal and commercial construction projects.
This individual will work closely with Project Managers owners subcontractors inspectors architects engineers and government representatives to ensure projects are completed safely efficiently on schedule and within budget.
Candidates must be comfortable operating in highly regulated environments with strong documentation compliance and scheduling requirements.
Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Coordination- Participate in preconstruction planning with architects engineers consultants and project management teams
- Assist with permitting inspections and project approvals
- Develop and maintain baseline construction schedules and sequencing plans
- Prepare and manage short-term lookahead schedules
- Coordinate subcontractor manpower logistics and critical path activities
- Supervise daily jobsite operations across federal military renovation and commercial projects
- Coordinate subcontractors suppliers vendors and self-perform crews
- Ensure proper material flow site access and work sequencing
- Monitor productivity manpower allocation and schedule adherence
- Open and secure jobsites daily as required
- Coordinate inspections with local state federal and military agencies
- Ensure compliance with contract specifications safety standards and government regulations
- Maintain all project documentation including:
- Daily reports
- Safety documentation
- Material tracking
- Submittals
- SDS records
- O&M manuals
- Permit documentation
- Support projects requiring government clearances and secure facility access
- Perform ongoing quality control inspections
- Enforce subcontractor compliance with project specifications and safety protocols
- Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions
- Conduct subcontractor coordination meetings and safety discussions
- Issue notices of non-compliance and coordinate resolution efforts
- Maintain clean organized and safety-focused jobsites
- Serve as the primary field leader on assigned projects
- Maintain strong communication with project management accounting ownership representatives and subcontractors
- Provide project progress updates schedule reporting and issue resolution
- Help drive accountability and maintain high-performance field operations
The ideal candidate will come from a strong federal or government construction background and possess experience managing technically demanding projects with strict compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 3 5 years of Superintendent experience in:
- Federal construction
- Government construction
- Commercial construction
- Military projects
- Strong understanding of:
- Construction sequencing
- Scheduling
- Quality control
- Safety compliance
- Subcontractor coordination
- Ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously
- Strong leadership communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings/specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
- Valid Drivers License required
- Ability to pass government background checks and access secure facilities
- USACE QCM Certification
- Experience with federal documentation and inspection processes
- Prior military base or secure facility construction experience
- Historic renovation/restoration experience
- Design-build project experience
This position involves both office and active construction site responsibilities including:
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Walking active jobsites daily
- Climbing ladders and navigating uneven terrain
- Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Multi-site project oversight when required
