We are seeking an enthusiastic Laboratory Support technician to join our R&D team in Leiden.

Success in this role requires strong handson basic laboratory skills a proactive mindset and the ability to operate in close collaboration with colleagues.

The Laboratory Support technician plays a critical role in facilitating scientific research by actively maintaining a clean and safe workplace by monitoring and managing inventory of lab supplies and consumables and by supporting scientists through the preparation of materials.

This position plays a central role in ensuring efficient reliable and continuous laboratory operations.

This role also involves interaction with teams other than R&D like Application research and Facility support staff.

At our Leiden sitehome to a R&D team of 45 scientists from 15 nationalitieswe have a proud history rooted in the early days of modern biotechnology. Today we continue to lead the industry in sustainable biosolutions.

Our R&D team designs microbial cell factories to create engineered enzymes used in food & beverages home & personal care animal nutrition grain processing biopolymers and more. We drive innovation from idea to production using generative AI advanced biomolecular engineering highthroughput screening and fullscale testing at IFF manufacturing plants.

Where Youll Make a Difference

• Lab maintenance - Perform routine cleaning decontamination and sterilization of work areas glassware and equipment

• Lab safety Ensure the safe disposal of biohazardous or chemical waste according to safety SOPs

• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies reagents and consumables - track stock levels using warehouse management software tools

• Support consumables & supply by placing orders

• Support lab activities by preparing fresh buffers media or reagents necessary for experiments

• Receive sort and document delivered samples in compliance with protocols and arrange international shipments of R&D samples and products

What Makes You the Right Fit

• Graduated from MLO (Middelbaar Laboratorium Onderwijs) or comparable level of education with 1-4 years of laboratory support experience

• Familiarity with standard lab equipment (e.g. autoclaves balances centrifuges pipets)

• Solid understanding of (bio)safety regulations and hazardous waste disposal procedures

• Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Excel Word)

• Strong teamwork interpersonal and communication skills

• Intermediate proficiency in both written and spoken English

How You Would Stand Out

• Experience in a ML1 and ML2 biosafety level lab environment

• Intermediate proficiency in both written and spoken English
