The Opportunity

Join the Information Technology team as a Desktop Support Specialist supporting a dynamic academic environment. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of technologies while directly impacting faculty staff and student success. The position provides hands-on experience with multi-platform systems exposure to emerging technologies and the chance to contribute to a collaborative service-oriented IT environment within a globally recognized university.

Key Job Functions

• Provide technical support for desktop hardware software and peripherals across Windows macOS and Linux environments

• Troubleshoot and resolve basic to complex technical issues including networking and system performance concerns

• Install configure and maintain computing devices and applications for faculty staff and students

• Support academic labs point-of-sale systems and mobile devices (iOS/Android)

• Document incidents resolutions and processes in ticketing systems and knowledge bases

• Deliver exceptional customer service and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users

• Assist with deployment testing and implementation of new technologies and system upgrades

• Collaborate with IT teams on projects initiatives and strategic improvements

• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to higher education

Required Education and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certifications preferred

• 13 years of experience in desktop support or a related IT field

• Proficiency in Windows and macOS operating systems; familiarity with Linux is a plus

• Basic networking knowledge (e.g. TCP/IP DHCP)

• Experience supporting Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom

• Strong troubleshooting analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to prioritize tasks meet deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively

• Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment
