Job Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the preparation analysis and delivery of accurate and timely financial statements and related disclosures for Leons retail operations. This role ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS) supports audit requirements and contributes to the continuous improvement of financial reporting processes and internal controls.
As a key member of the Finance team the Senior Financial Analyst partners closely with the Controller FP&A and operational leaders to provide insightful financial analysis maintain data integrity and support business decision-making in a fast-paced multi-location retail environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Execute key components of the month-end and year-end close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and post journal entries and perform account reconciliations.
- Ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards (IFRS).
Compliance & Audit
- Support internal and external audit processes including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor requests.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory tax and financial reporting requirements.
- Maintain and enhance documentation supporting financial reporting processes and controls.
Consolidation & Technical Accounting
- Manage financial consolidations including intercompany transactions and eliminations where applicable.
- Research and apply technical accounting guidance for complex transactions.
- Support the implementation of new accounting standards and policies.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency accuracy and scalability.
- Support automation initiatives and optimization of ERP and reporting systems.
Financial Analysis & Business Support
- Provide analysis of financial results including variance analysis and key performance indicators.
- Partner with FP&A to ensure alignment between financial reporting and forecasting.
- Support management reporting and preparation of materials for senior leadership.
- Analyze trends and KPIs to support strategic decision-making
Knowledge / Skill- Requirement
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS and/or ASPE).
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles consolidations and financial statement preparation.
- Experience with audit processes and internal controls frameworks.
- Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain financial results clearly.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Oracle or similar).
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment.
- High level of integrity professionalism and accountability.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Office-based role with extended periods of computer and financial system use.
- Fast-paced environment with peak workloads during month-end quarter-end and year-end reporting cycles.
- Regular collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
Experience
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience supporting month-end close financial reporting processes and supporting audits.
- Experience in a retail multi-location or distribution environment preferred.
- ERP system experience (Oracle or similar) required.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field required.
- CPA designation (or equivalent) preferred.
Compensation:
$70000/yr to $85000/yr
