General Summary:
Under the supervision of the Physician/Provider assists in minor office procedures and injections performs patient intake assessments discharges patients from clinic and procedures educates patient on procedures and medication changes as well as new medications. Manages message center including taking phone calls off voicemail and entering them into EHR accessing OARRS reports for clinic visits and for use with prescription proposals. Is able to calculate medication due dates based on OARRS reports and patient plan of care as established by physician/provider.
Education Licensure Registration and Experience:
High School graduate or equivalent
Medical Assistant certification
Knowledge of office procedures and equipment
Experience in giving injections
Typing and medical terminology experience required
CPR certification required
Prior Authorization and Precertification experience preferred
Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and needs and to provide the care needed as described in the areas policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
Assist Physician/Provider with patient care as required.
Maintain patient records and prepare necessary forms for billing prior authorization of meds if indicated.
Answer telephone calls and places calls as directed.
Documents all messages.
Is able to know understand and follow directions as given by the Physician/Provider.
Stocking supplies and completing form for needed equipment and supplies.
Conducts vital signs EKGs and pain assessment. Reviews H&P and MAR.
Schedules patient visits and assists with charts.
Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the areas policies and procedures.
Practices effective communication skills.
Demonstrates responsibility and accountability as their profession practice and job dictates.
Conducts all work activities with respect for the rights and wishes of patients visitors families and fellow employees including the maintenance of a pleasant quiet environment as observed by the manager.
Displays a positive attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer service program in place.

Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance.
Appearance is professional neat clean and appropriate for the work environment. Wears proper photoidentification badge while on duty.
Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times as observed by peers and management.
Attends monthly staff meetings and participates in monthly rounding process with manager to assure effective and timely two-way communications.
Participates in and completes required department specific education and training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to department safety and specific job-related hazards.
Follows safety and security policies including exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
