Job Summary

The Financial Case Manager assists clients in establishing and maintaining eligibility for financial and medical assistance and provides education about benefit entitlements and money management. This position also supports OASAS-licensed program clients in linking to needed community services while ensuring funding is secured and maintained for agency services.


In compliance with NYSs Pay Transparency Act the salary range for this position is listed above. East House considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position candidates work experience education/training key skills internal peer equity as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The hiring process for this position may require a criminal background check and/or motor vehicle records check. Any verbal or written offer made is contingent on satisfactory results as determined by Human Resources.


Responsibilities

  • Assesses clients needs and assists in obtaining and maintaining financial and medical benefits.
  • Educates clients on benefit entitlements and money management skills tailored to individual capability.
  • Assists clients in establishing Social Security Representative Payeeships when appropriate.
  • Coordinates funding efforts with the Admissions team Finance and program staff to ensure timely service initiation.
  • Develops and manages sliding scale or repayment agreements as needed and follows up on balances.
  • Assists OASAS program clients in accessing housing legal support healthcare and other services.
  • Maintains documentation to meet regulatory funder and agency standards.

Other Duties

  • Follows all applicable policies federal and state laws and East House compliance standards.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Ethics Compliance & Quality to address non-compliance and document corrective actions.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required and 4 years of paid human services experience
  • Bachelors degree in a human service-related field with 2 years of experience.


Other Skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • Knowledge of community resources including Social Security public assistance and Medicaid.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with culturally diverse clients staff and service providers.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Basic computer literacy for email use internet research and simple document formatting.
  • Valid NYS drivers license in good standing and access to a personal vehicle for work-related tasks.

Working Conditions/Work Environment

Traditional office and/or residential environment. Occasionally subjected to pressure due to time demands. May have to travel to various program locations which may not be accessible for individuals with reduced mobility.
