What we are looking for

This is a China-based position with relocation support. The role is designed for for early-career candidates in Greece seeking international experience and looking to build a long-term career in the maritime industry.

As an Assistant Surveyor with Lloyds Register you will join a structured programme designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge to progress your early career.

We will provide you with all the technical skills and experience you need to become a fully qualified Maritime surveyor. You will gain exposure to real projects while developing both your theoretical understanding and practical capability.

You will also have the time and support to build a solid knowledge base through in-depth training delivered by experienced professionals alongside practical placements that help you refine your skills in a real-world environment.

The role

  • Carry out activities aligned with your personal training plan building knowledge and competence in survey execution and related work.
  • Assist manager in producing deliverables within projects and produce own training within agreed timescales and of appropriate quality.
  • Understand all LR services and be able to discuss and present the deliverable with the internal clients initially and later external clients and be able to suggest solutions where appropriate.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures accreditation schemes legislation and industry standards.
  • Consistently pursue Initial Professional Development by developing maintaining and documenting both technical and non-technical competencies to support progression toward CEng status.
  • Build commercial awareness by understanding the scope and value of work delivered to clients including supporting quotations and survey fee calculations.
  • Give guidance to other employees as appropriate and disseminate information to enable effective knowledge transfer and application.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by communicating internal and external client feedback where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate Marine Training Records and obtain the necessary authorisations in line with the development plan.
  • Complete routine administrative tasks in accordance with current processes and procedures.

What you bring

  • A Bachelors degree or higher from a recognised institution in a relevant field such as Naval Architecture Ship Science Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Up to 3 years of technical or practical experience in a related field.
  • The ability to apply both general and specialist engineering knowledge to existing and emerging technologies.
  • An understanding of how to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods across the lifecycle of engineering solutions including design development manufacturing construction commissioning operation and maintenance.
  • A self-motivated and collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a team while using your own initiative to achieve both business and personal objectives.
  • Fluency in Greek and English both written and spoken with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Additional language skills are appreciated .
