The opportunity

As the Glass Wash Coordinator you will support scientific delivery through the cleaning and sterilisation of glassware for laboratories stock management waste removal and coordination of the on-site mini market. The role is also responsible for supplier and contractor management to maintain quality assured equipment and supply of required materials. You will be based at the Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) and operate within the ACDP Operations Group.

This is a full time 9 month fixed term opportunity with hours commencing at 3:00am and finishing at 11:06am daily.

Please note that due to the nature of the role you will be required to meet ACDPs microbiological security and any other additional security assessment requirements as well as be appropriately vaccinated.

Your high-level duties will include:

  • Coordinate the day to day activities of the glass wash team including establishing rosters setting work tasks and overseeing the delivery of activity to quality regulatory and safety standards
  • Coordinate the delivery of the Glass wash function including cleaning and maintaining glassware items used in the laboratory or other microbiological containment environment. This includes manual handling to ensure:
    • Thorough washing drying and sterilizing each glass component to ensure optimal sanitation
    • A clean and well-maintained environment in which the glassware is kept
    • The safe removal of broken or damaged glass items
    • Effective waste collection cleaning of tote boxes waste separation and recycling
  • Operate industrial glassware washers sterilizers and heat sterilization ovens to ensure that all glassware used is free of contamination. Ensure that glassware is stored in appropriate areas
  • Operate equipment used in a microbiological secure environment including autoclaves
  • Maintain equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns and arranging for repairs
  • Provide coordination and oversight of the stock supply and food hygiene of the non-secure canteen micro-market including stock checks restocking food disposal liaison with food delivery and providing advice to the ACDP Operations manager on continuous improvement of the micro-market
  • Check levels of detergent and neutraliser in dishwasher reservoirs; refill when required
  • Clean benches and sinks
  • Assist laboratory staff by maintain glass stock levels in the secure store
  • Manage stationery orders and stock management
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Location and office arrangements:Geelong VIC - Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP)

Salary: AU$76k AU$96k per annum (pro rata for part-time) plus 15.4% superannuation

As the successful candidate you will bring:

Essential

  • Previous experience and training in a laboratory environment handling and understanding chemicals and associated equipment
  • Proficient in the proper application of manual handling techniques and lifting equipment
  • Previous experience in a food service industry
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills to be able to access interpret and apply company standard operational procedures
  • Capable of working effectively as part of a team and ability to take on leadership and coordination duties

Desirable

  • Previous work experience in a high containment laboratory
  • Previous work experience in a food safety or handling industry
