Summary
The Unit Operations Associate (UOA) provides comprehensive administrative operational and clinical support to ensure efficient and high-quality unit operations. This role supports clinical staff through patient rounding audits scheduling and timekeeping functions including overtime and sick time data entry while promoting a safe compliant and patient-centered care environment.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Prior healthcare administrative or unit support experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of work experience preferably in a healthcare setting or similar operational/clinical support roles.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational time-management and attention to detail
- Ability to perform safety checks and audits with accurate documentation
- Proficiency with computer systems and timekeeping software (EHR and payroll systems preferred)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
Patient Support & Rounding
- Conduct routine patient rounding to assess comfort safety and non-clinical needs
- Respond to patient call lights and requests in a timely courteous manner
- Communicate patient concerns needs or safety issues to nursing and clinical staff
- Assist with patient flow activities including admissions transfers and discharges as assigned
Unit Safety Checks
- Perform routine unit safety checks to identify environmental equipment or operational hazards
- Enters work orders for equipment/environmental findings to be corrected.
- Ensure hallways patient rooms and common areas remain safe clean and unobstructed
- Verify availability and proper placement of safety equipment (e.g. crash carts fire extinguishers PPE)
- Report safety hazards incidents or near misses promptly to appropriate staff or leadership
- Document safety check findings and support follow-up actions as needed
Audits & Compliance
- Perform unit audits related to safety cleanliness documentation and regulatory compliance
- Monitor adherence to hospital policies procedures and quality standards
- Document audit results and report findings to unit leadership
- Assist with corrective actions and follow-up based on audit outcomes
- Monitor adherence to Defib checks
Scheduling & Coordination
- Assist with staff scheduling shift coverage and daily staffing adjustments
- Coordinate education sessions and unit activities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff and unit schedules
- Communicate schedule changes promptly to staff and leadership
- Track staff absences / call-ins
Administrative & Unit Operations
- Maintain accurate records logs reports and unit documentation
- Order receive and restock unit supplies and equipment
- Check for supply expirations
- Coordinates and schedules onboarding and orientation of new staff to unit processes
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as a liaison between patients families and the healthcare team
- Participate in unit meetings huddles safety rounds audits and quality improvement initiatives
- Promote a culture of safety teamwork professionalism and patient-centered care
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 25 lb. lift/move 15 lb. from floor to table be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard writing and filing for extended periods of time must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit at a computer terminal or work station for a prolonged period of time in addition to being able to squat stand and walk for a reasonable length of time and distance.

Salary Range: $18.33-$26.58 /hour Pay is based on experience skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
