Job Summary

Job Title: Material Testing Lab Technician
What Youll Do
- Performs tests in Physical Testing areas of metallography physical and mechanical testingand nondestructive testing utilizing defined techniques and procedures.
- Performs a variety of tests and inspections on various types of equipment utilizing a broad range of test equipment.
- Sets up calibrates operates and troubleshoots equipment and instrumentation for complex tests inspections and experiments.
- Uses ADP equipment to operate test equipment and acquire data.
- May support technical staff with special studies evaluations or development activity with only general direction and no written procedures.
- Performs calculation analyzes data evaluates and interprets results of tests and inspections to determine acceptance or rejection of materials to specific conditions.
- May design data processing programs to assist in data analysis.
- Prepares written reports on tests and inspections.
- Presents papers and oral reports to customers and management personnel.
- Explains test results and interpretation to management auditors and customers.

Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma with a minimum of six years of relevant experience.
- OR an associates degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e. High School diploma; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
Preferred Job Requirements
- Experience with vibration testing ultrasonic examination or mechanical properties testing.
- Ability to set up and calibrate equipment interpret and evaluate test results with respect to applicable ASNT and ASTM codes standards and specifications.
- Knowledge with Metallography chemicals hazardous materials and mixed waste
