Software Development Manager, Campaign Management

Advertisers spend tens of billions of dollars annually leveraging Amazon Advertising to grow their businesses. We support advertisers by building industry-standard advertiser controls (demand) with an open data plane serving an ever-growing number of ad serving channels (supply). Our services support all Sponsored Ads programs and all Display Ad programsyou can think of our team as the brain and nervous system of all advertisements within Amazon.

As advertisers and advertising tools rapidly adopt AI agents to plan optimize and achieve marketing goals Amazon Ads is building multiple agentic applications to lead this transformation. Our services are building common infrastructure such as MCP tools and real-time data services to accelerate agent development.

Our team owns a unified set of campaign management APIs with a global experience for multi-regional operations an auto-scalable campaign management storage and publishing pipeline capable of handling massive amounts of data per day and continuing to grow. We operate a world-class distributed system that services hundreds of millions of API requests per day streams data at petabyte scale and processes business logic on tight latency budgetsall while streaming data at high fidelity to 20 other services.

We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the roadmap for the unified campaign APIs and deliver a resilient architecture by driving client adoption of these unified APIs.

* Lead and grow teamsof talented software engineers who build services used by advertisers worldwide
* Define the groups priorities and visionto create and enhance software services that help advertisers enhance discoverability for all products they sell online
* Define and manage the roadmapfor your services in consultation with product managers helping advertisers reach new markets and build a strong brand presence
* Collaborate with and learn fromadvertising partner teams to drive customer value
* Maintain high standardsof service availability and operational excellence to operate efficiently at scale and high velocity

Technical Leadership & Platform Vision
- Lead the design and evolution of platform architecture establishing patterns for real-time data ingestion processing and delivery that scale across advertising agents and skills
- Partner with Principal Engineers and architects across Amazon Advertising to influence long-term technical direction for agent infrastructure
- Own the technical roadmap balancing immediate customer needs with platform scalability and extensibility

Team Management & Development
- Manage mentor and grow a team of engineers building mission-critical real-time data infrastructure
- Foster a culture of innovation technical excellence and customer obsession while maintaining sustainable engineering practices
- Conduct performance reviews career development planning and succession planning for team members
- Create quality bar raisers within the organization and promote technical leaders

Platform Operations & Excellence
- Establish operational excellence standards for a platform processing billions of data points with 1-3 minute refresh cadences
- Drive system reliability monitoring and incident response practices ensuring 99.9% availability for agent teams
- Implement delivery and quality governance mechanisms ensuring timely execution of platform roadmap
- Define success metrics and key performance indicators demonstrating measurable impact on agent performance developer productivity and customer experience

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence
- Collaborate with agent builder teams to understand data requirements and drive platform adoption
- Engage with product managers and senior leadership to align platform capabilities with business strategy
- Work with Technical Program Managers to coordinate cross-team dependencies and ensure successful launches

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
