Job Summary
The Climate Action Coordinator will play a central role in developing and implementing a range of climate-focused programs including in person educational workshops and webinars localized resource guides and other strategic initiatives. They will cultivate and maintain partnerships with Jewish community institutions throughout New York supporting them in identifying assessing and carrying out climate solutions aimed at reducing or eliminating greenhouse gas emissions. A key responsibility of the role is guiding members of the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition in the creation execution evaluation and annual sharing of their organizational Climate Action Plans. Moreover the Coordinator will manage and oversee the Adamah NY Climate Action Fund including reviewing applications working with grantees coordinating the Climate Action Fund advisory committee as well as the Climate Action Fund allocations and all the administrative aspects of the Fund. The coordinator will also connect institutions with broader engagement opportunities offered by Adamah NY to ensure holistic and sustained Action Leadership (75%)Coalition Growth & SupportRecruit Jewish community organizations across the NY area to join the Jewish Climate Leadership CoalitionSupport the development implementation and annual reporting of Adamah NY Coalition members organizational Climate Action PlansClimate Action Fund ManagementServe as the main point of contact for all Adamah NY Climate Action Fund aspects includingPromotion of the Fund (advertising recruitment application support presenting)Administration (materials preparation reporting invoicing)Coordination of lay leaders involvement convening and supporting the Climate Action Fund Allocation Committee Program Development & ImplementationDesign deliver and coordinate local programming including learning sessions and strategic workshops on climate solutions (e.g. electrification clean energy energy efficiency nature-based solutions)Support program development on climate adaptation and resilienceCoordinate local partnerships with NYC-based climate and sustainability experts government programs nonprofits and private sector leaders to support members decarbonization goals to advance the Hub s visibility relevance and impactDevelop materials and resource guides as neededOutreach to potential business partners (through Adamah s Jewish Green Business Network and beyond) to create opportunities for Coalition members and for sponsorshipCommunity Engagement & FacilitationFoster meaningful integration between Coalition work and other Adamah NY offerings by connecting members to additional Hub programsCommunity Program Support (15%)Support Adamah NY s broader mission and programs including in person and outdoor events retreats and educational offeringsHelp advance the Hub s goals beyond the climate portfolio by engaging diverse community members and stakeholdersAdministration (10%)Participate in internal meetings including:Weekly check-ins with the Adamah NY DirectorWeekly Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition team virtual meetingWeekly Adamah NY team meetingsMonthly national Adamah staff meetingsMaintain accurate records and progress tracking using shared data systemsParticipate in professional development opportunitiesHelpful Prior Skills and Experience Include:Preferred: 3 years in relevant work (climate/sustainability programs coalition/partnership management nonprofit programs or related)Academic background (preferred) - environmental studies/engineering/policy; nonprofit management; public policy/administration or similar fieldsExperience working in the climate/energy/environmental spaceUnderstanding of climate change and climate justice topics a mustUnderstanding of the New York Jewish community a plusMust possess a solid work ethic with strong organizational and time-management skills excellent attention to detail professional verbal and written communication skills in English as well as provide excellent customer serviceStrong administration and Microsoft suite skills Salesforce experience or the willingness to learnComfort using AI tools to support research drafting and workflows (e.g. summarizing notes creating first drafts and generating outreach copy) with strong judgment fact-checking and attention to detailsAbility to multitask and hold multiple projects at once. Strong attention to detail as well as ability to hold a big-picture viewCreative and self-starter ability to self-motivate and work on solo projects as neededTeam & Organizational Responsibilities:Attend and contribute to regular Adamah NY team meetings monthly all-staff meetings and quarterly divisional meetingsCollaborate with team members to support Adamah NY outreach communications and community building in the regionWhile this role will focus on climate action other responsibilities may be delegated and expanded as needed to support our interdisciplinary and collaborative team. Responsibilities could include but are not limited to: supporting set up for adjacent Adamah NY programming supporting local engagement with the Jewish Youth Climate Movement or Adamah on Campus marketing and communications support and development and fundraising maintain a professional demeanor and ability to adapt to changing situationsOther tasks/duties as assignedWorking Conditions:This is an exempt position with standard working hours from Monday to Friday with occasional travel evenings and weekend work required. The role is designed to be hybrid with a minimum of 2 days per week in the NY downtown office.
