We are part of COWIs International business line with an extensive track record and a reputation for technical excellence. COWI Japan Branch is part of our offshore wind team in APAC including COWI Korea Branch and COWI Taiwan Branch.

COWIs Wind Energy business is rapidly growing and we are looking for new colleagues to meet the demand for our services. We are looking for a committed Geotechnical/Civil engineer to support our offshore wind projects - from conceptual phase to detailed design and foundation installation. We are more than 150 motivated colleagues working internationally alongside our customers on some of the worlds most innovative projects in offshore wind.

COWI has been active with offshore wind projects worldwide for over 20 years and has been pioneers in the Japanese offshore wind development with active projects since 2017. Our experience in Japan includes all project phases from Concept to Detailed designs acting as Designer and Technical Advisor within offshore wind foundations. We are committed to growing our COWI Branch in Japan to support the renewable energy market locally and across APAC.

As a senior Geotechnical/Civil engineer your key activities will be:

• Performing geotechnical design and analyses for bottomfixed and floating structures including design assumptions calculations and technical deliverables
• Providing technical expertise to the project team throughout the bid and execution phases for both floating and bottom-fixed structures
• Documenting design results and technical decisions and attending or leading project meetings with clients
• Contributing alongside experts to internal competence and design methodology development
• Coordinating geotechnical/civil scope across project disciplines during the bid and execution phases
• Interfacing with certification authorities to support and justify design solutions and ensure compliance with applicable standards
• Working in close cooperation with engineering teams across Europe and APAC

We would be thrilled to hear from candidates who resemble the following:

• Geotechnical/Civil Engineering or similar.
• Fluent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese (native or near-native level) with working proficiency in English (verbal and written)
• Minimum 3 years experience with offshore wind design or a closely related field is advantageous
• Are familiar with offshore wind design regulation and certification processes in Japan
• Experience in geotechnical and seismic engineering for offshore structures is advantageous
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages e.g. Python Java or C is an advantage.
