Job Summary
Overview
Element has an opportunity for an 2nd Shift Inorganics Laboratory Technician to join our growing team in Fort Wayne IN. As a member of the Inorganics department at our Environmental Testing Laboratory in Fort Wayne IN the Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine assignments within the department to ensure timely and accurate testing is performed. The technician must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance with established safety rules code of conduct and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Routinely work with client samples laboratory instruments chemicals and reagents
- Perform tests as directed by internal standard operating procedures published methods and laboratory accreditations
- Operate under the supervision of more senior test technicians chemists and/or department managers
- Complete logs and record test data
- Manage the functionality and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Clean glassware and dispose of samples
Skills / Qualifications
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety
- Ability to work independently
- HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
- 0-2 years experience in a testing related field
- Basic understanding of testing concepts
- Possess computer skills
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
Physical Demands:
- Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).
- Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50lbs periodically
