Overview: The Campus Care Advocate is a member ofthe California State University Northridge response to sexual assault and interpersonal such the Campus Care Advocate works in close coordination with the Office of Equity and Diversity Department of Police Services CounselingHealthand Student centers as wellas offcampus members of the sexual assault response AccompanimentsAdvocacy Crisis Intervention Case Management Short-Term Counseling Outreach and Prevention activities.

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned): Located on CSUN campus the Campus Care Advocate reports to the Clinical Supervisor for Campus Services andClientServices- Provide;crisis interventionand emotional support case managementshort-term counselingaccompaniment to forensic medical evidentiary evaluations office of equity and diversity and court proceedings; assists in obtaining restraining orderscommunicates with referrals and resources to ensure streamlining of service provision. Adheres to mandated reporting and confidentiality rulespoliciesandprocedures of Strength with a licensed staff clinician on issues regarding mandated reporting client confidentiality and/or follow-up;remainsconnected with clients on a weekly or monthly basis tomaintainthe flow of communication andassistance;facilitatesaccess to address legal and immigration related issues of clients and links topartner agencies. CSUNPartnership Liaison -works closely with and liaisons whilst upholding confidentiality with multi-disciplinary team memberson campus; advocating for clientsstatedneedsassistinglawenforcement andcampuspartners in meeting those needs;facilitatescommunication between campuspartners and clients.Data Collection and Documentation- Maintains advocacy files; documents all client contact; documents all onsite and offsite referrals and outcomes;maintainsall consents; gathers and enters statistical data resulting from advocate contacts into web-based data management system;and provides reports to program and agency administrators.Training and Workshops-Provides training and presentation to a range of on campus entities toinclude: Incoming Students Housing Health Center Faculty Staff and Classroom in and provides cross training to partner agencies andMulti-disciplinaryteam case review; attends monthlymeetings as assigned.Will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Masters Degree or enrollment in an MFT or MSW graduate program;abachelors the selected candidate is not already certified by the state of California as aDomestic Violence andSexual Assault Counselor advocate the candidate will have to attend the requisite training to obtain the certification. Must pass a Criminal Clearance. Mustpossessstrong organizational skills and attention to detail. Must have excellent computer skills including the ability to use both Mac and PC platforms and to use Microsoft Office and database programs.

Knowledge Specialized Skills and Abilities: Mustdemonstrateability to assess risk and work with representatives from various campus departmentsupholding professional boundaries. Must be comfortable in hospital settings with ability to view injuries in a calm manner. Mustdemonstratethe capacity to remain calmfocusedand responsive in crisis situations. Mustdemonstratethe ability to use communication skills that successfully convey and obtainaccurateand complete information in a respectful and caring a basic knowledge of body language and non-verbal communication. Understand anddemonstrateactive listening skills. Must be a critical thinker reasoningorganizingand analyzing information so that problems are accurately understood and solutions are congruent with clients capacities and outcome to negotiate and collaborateto ensure the clients successful receipt of services. Demonstrate the skill of advocating for the needs and rights of people. Must show a passion and sensitivity for trauma work. Demonstrated experience tomaintaincooperative working relationships with others; be team oriented; coordinate/collaborate with professionals from multiple agencies whilstmaintainingappropriate boundariesand client confidentiality Mustdemonstratean acceptance and respect for cultural diversity in all its forms including ethnicity sexual orientationabilities and religious backgrounds and an ability to work collaboratively in an ethnically linguistically and culturally diverse environment.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office setting with a low-to-moderate noise level; employee will need to utilize their personal vehicle for travel to and from meetings outside the office; employee must regularly communicate by telephone written communications and in-person with staff families served partners funders and other professionals; occasionally lift carry and position objects weighing up to 20 pounds. The anticipated hiring range: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
