Mercer University School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified Director of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development on the Macon GA campus.Responsibilities:
The Director of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for faculty affairs functions across all the Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) campuses. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs the Director manages MUSM office logistics and faculty processes including recruitment onboarding appointments promotion and tenure evaluation governance faculty development and accreditation reporting.
This role exercises independent judgment in the development and interpretation of faculty policies oversees faculty data systems and performance metrics and serves as a key liaison to academic leadership Human Resources Finance and the Deans Office. The Director designs implements and evaluates faculty development initiatives across undergraduate graduate and continuing medical education programs and supports institutional planning compliance and continuous improvement efforts in a complex academic medical environment.
Qualifications:
A bachelors degree in Higher Education Adult Education Human Resources Communications or related field and three years of progressively responsible experience in faculty affairs academic administration healthcare administration or a related area OR a masters degree and one year of aforementioned experience are required. Additionally candidates must have a valid drivers license.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership faculty staff and external stakeholders across a complex academic medical environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across diverse stakeholder groups while advancing institutional initiatives.
Ability to independently develop analyze and present reports incorporating goals performance metrics and data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making.
Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations in both in-person and virtual settings.
Demonstrated experience in process improvement policy development and project management within complex organizations.
Advanced analytical skills including the ability to design and manage data systems and translate information into actionable insights.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and exercise discretion in handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
Working knowledge of budgeting financial planning and resource management.
Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy exercising independent judgment aligned with institutional objectives.
Proficiency with databases spreadsheets and reporting tools.
Ability to responsibly leverage AI-enabled platforms to enhance analysis and operational efficiency.
Ability to travel independently for infrequent work-related assignments meetings trainings or site visits (approximately 24 days per academic year).
