Join our Intellectual Property Prosecution Team as an IDS Specialist located in our Boston office.

This role will be based in our Boston office on a hybrid basis. Regular in-office presence is required for day-to-day operations as well as for team meetings training opportunities and relationship building. This role reports to the IP Prosecution Manager

Position Summary

Great opportunity for an experienced Patent and Information Disclosure Statement (IDS) Specialist.

We are seeking an IDS Specialist to join our Intellectual Property Prosecution team in Boston. This administrative role focuses on the preparation and filing of Information Disclosure Statements (IDS) with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and supports attorneys and other legal team members in meeting U.S. and foreign disclosure obligations.

The IDS Specialist will manage all aspects of IDS preparation and filing including reviewing worldwide patent families and Office Actions for cited references preparing formal IDS documents coordinating attorney review and tracking related deadlines. The role involves close collaboration with attorneys patent professionals and docketing staff as well as organizing backfilling and maintaining IDS citation records in the Anaqua database.

This position is well suited for a patent support professional with at least one year of experience who is interested in continuing a specialization in IDS practice. Candidates with additional experience as well as candidates with at least one year of experience in a field that demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills are encouraged to apply. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares reviews and files Information Disclosure Statements (IDS) with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Reviews U.S. and foreign Office Actions and patent family materials for cited references and disclosure requirements.

  • Coordinates attorney review of IDS filings and track related deadlines.

  • Audits patent files for IDS compliance during intake and prior to issue fee payment.

  • Maintains and update IDS citation records and related data in the Anaqua database including historical backfill projects.

  • Communicates with attorneys clients docketing staff and foreign associates regarding U.S. and foreign disclosure obligations.

  • Assists with additional patent support projects including PTA calculations chainoftitle research diligence assignments and namechange matters.

  • Reviews daily attorney dockets flag critical deadlines and support process improvement and documentation efforts.

  • Stays current on U.S. and foreign patent office rules and procedures related to disclosure and prosecution.

  • Meets billable hour requirements and follow best practices for time entry.

Education & Prior Experience

  • Bachelors Degree required

  • At least one full year of prior experience managing a patent prosecution docket including managing complex U.S. IDS practices and non-U.S. prior art disclosures in a law firm is required.

  • Thorough knowledge of USPTO rules and procedures related to the filing of IDS documents is required.

Technology

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in using Microsoft Word Outlook Excel and PowerPoint and comfortable learning new applications and software.

  • Experience with Anaqua is highly preferred.

The expected pay range for this position is:

$33.33 to $41.02 per hour

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience location and other job-related factors permitted by law.
