LIS Tech Specialist I Clinical Mass Spectrometry Laboratory

LIS Tech Specialist works with the laboratory information system technical specialist (LIS TS) II laboratory information system technical specialist (TS) coordinator and the supervisor to provide LIS support for the laboratory including operation maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory file build. Accurately documents and tracks changes made to laboratory file build using the test implementation process (TIP). Serves as an expert resource for information management (IM) functions to the work unit. Completes other projects or assignments as assigned.

**Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic**

Bachelors degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS) medical technology (MT) chemistry biological science from an accredited institution or bachelors degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in histopathology or non-testing laboratories a bachelors degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Two years of relevant laboratory experience required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory processes assays databases and spreadsheet applications. Experience with complex test file build definitions and testing algorithms in the LIS. Experience with the IM test implementation process.

Capable of performing under time constraints multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced and changing environment. Demonstrates self-motivation attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication. Able to work independently.


Ongoing education training and certification may be required to meet prevailing regulatory requirements.
