The Global Immigration & Mobility Specialist will be responsible for day to day operations with US & Global Immigration that meet business requirements by working in conjunction with global local policies processes & regulations; monitoring compliances & strive for improvements and keeping management informed appropriately. This role serves as the subject matter expert for all U.S. immigration matters. This position has no direct reports.
Immigration Case Management
- Coordinate employment-based immigration cases including H 1B L 1A/L 1B O 1 TN H 4 and permanent residency processes (PERM I 140 I 485) in collaboration with external immigration counsel.
- Support H 1B CAP registrations extensions amendments and subsequent filings by gathering required information and documentation.
- Track visa validity max out dates priority dates and work authorization timelines to support continuity of employment.
- Assist with change of status consular processing and dependent visa matters as required.
- Coordinate with external immigration attorneys for LCA NOF posting and Public Access File (PAF) preparation and maintenance.
- Review and validate job titles job descriptions salary information and wage details prior to submission to legal counsel.
- Maintain internal records and documentation related to immigration cases in accordance with company policy.
- Guide employees through visa and onboarding (I-9) requirements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding immigration processes documentation requirements and timelines.
- Manage multiple immigration cases simultaneously including batch and group processing (e.g. H 1B CAP cases).
- Track action items deadlines approvals and document submissions to ensure timely coordination with legal counsel.
- Support invoice validation and coordination of immigration related costs with finance teams.
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding immigration processes documentation requirements and timelines.
- Liaise with external immigration attorneys and vendors to facilitate filings and resolve case related queries.
- Partner with HR Finance and Business Managers to obtain approvals cost center details and role confirmations.
- Provide clear and timely status updates to stakeholders on case progress and required actions.
- Ensure stakeholders are informed of compliance requirements changes and next steps in a timely manner.
Reporting & Case Tracking
- Maintain accurate records in internal US master tracker. Prepare internal summaries trackers and status reports for management and audit purposes.
- Prepare reports on case status volumes costs and compliance metrics
- Support immigration forecasting and workforce planning
Policy & Process Support
- Support development and updates of US immigration and mobility policies
- Contribute to process improvements standard operating procedures (SOPs) and knowledge sharing
- Assist during peak cycles such as H 1B cap season
Key Skills & Competencies
- Expertise in U.K. immigration law (Skilled worker visa Global Talent visa Blue card Secondment worker visa etc.)
- Strong knowledge of global mobility operations (tax payroll relocation compliance).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- High attention to detail strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex fast-paced global environment.
- Sensitivity to employee experience and cultural awareness.
- Bachelors degree in human resources Legal studies Business Law or related field (Masters preferred).
- Experience in U.S. immigration with exposure to global mobility programs.
- Hands on experience with US non immigrant/immigrant visa processes
- Experience managing high-volume immigration caseloads across multiple visa categories.
- Strong collaboration with immigration counsel relocation vendors and government agencies.
- Certifications (preferred but not required): GMS (Global Mobility Specialist) SHRM-CP/SHRM- SCP or equivalent.
- Good knowledge in HR Technology tools systems especially in expat compensation.
Technical & Functional Skills
- Strong knowledge of:
- H 1B regulations and compliance
- USCIS filing processes
- DOL and DOS requirements
- Familiarity with immigration case management systems
- Experience working with immigration law firms preferred
- Experience with PERM / employment based green card processes
- Exposure to global immigration beyond the US
