Job Summary

Program and Operations Manager

At the NSW Department of Education we educate and inspire lifelong learners from early childhood through schooling to vocational education and training.

About the role

This senior role leads the operational rhythm strategic coordination and program delivery of a highperforming unit. You will drive internal projects that support priority strategic and operational objectives ensuring the unit operates efficiently consistently and with strong governance.

You will oversee administrative systems and practices manage complex issues and provide highlevel strategic advice to support informed decision making. Representing the Director at meetings and agencywide forums you will ensure the units perspectives policies and priorities are accurately communicated.

A key part of the role is leading the preparation and quality assurance of correspondence briefings reports submissions and program documentation. You will coordinate budget expenditure forecasting risk management and program schedules ensuring the unit meets its operational and corporate service requirements. Your responsibilities will include leading and ensuring the successful deployment of the units communications strategy and plans in alignment with the broader directorate and department objectives.

This position plays a central role in fostering productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders enabling smooth operations and effective delivery of the program of work.

About you -

  • You are an experienced senior officer with strong program and project management capability and a proven ability to operate autonomously while managing competing priorities. You bring an agile mindset sound judgement and the ability to anticipate emerging issues and provide accurate timely advice.
  • You excel at building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and are confident representing senior leaders in highlevel forums. Your communication skills are exceptional enabling you to prepare highquality written products under tight timeframes while ensuring appropriate consultation.
  • You thrive in dynamic environments are solutionsfocused and bring a collaborative approach to driving operational excellence across a unit.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Departments Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Departments Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
