As the Senior Procurement Capability Officer within the Department of Education you will lead the uplift of procurement capability across the organisation driving a culture of excellence compliance and continuous improvement. Youll design and deliver training programs that empower staff to confidently navigate NSW Government procurement frameworks and deliver strong value for money outcomes.
Drawing on your experience within NSW Government (or a similar environment) you will ensure alignment with key frameworks such as the Procurement Policy Framework and relevant legislative requirements while championing innovation and best practice. Taking an insight led approach you will assess capability gaps develop targeted training solutions and deliver engaging learning experiences across both in-person and virtual environments.
Beyond delivery you will play a key role in embedding sustainable capability monitoring effectiveness through data and feedback meeting reporting requirements and continuously refining your approach to maximise impact. Youll foster a strong learning culture by staying across emerging trends and tailoring solutions to meet the diverse needs of stakeholders balancing consistency with flexibility across the organisation.

About you
- Dynamic procurement professional with a strong grasp of NSW Government procurement policies frameworks systems procedures and legislative requirements.
- Proven experience in procurement training or a related role within the public sector. Experience in designing and delivering training programs is preferred.
- Skilled in identifying skill gaps and customising training materials for government agencies.
- Collaborative team player focused on aligning training initiatives with government objectives.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders ensuring high-quality customer service and collaborative success.
- Committed to continuous improvement constantly seeking opportunities to refine procedures and enhance performance standards.
- Passion for supporting educational priorities and ready to lead initiatives for efficient assessment of applications in a complex and evolving landscape.
- Proactive leader with dedication to quality and service eager to make a meaningful impact in our organisation.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the DepartmentsAboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Departments Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent professional experience in procurement.
- Willingness to travel across New South Wales.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to thevalue of public education.
