Pet Store and kennel manager

Job Summary
A Pet Store / Kennel Manageroversees daily retail and boarding operations ensuring high standards of customer service profitability and staff animal welfare. Key duties include hiring and training staff managing inventory sales kennel staff schedules ensuring high sanitation standards monitoring pet health administering medication handling customer service for drop-offs/pick-ups and ensuring compliance with animal welfare regulations and safety protocols.
Experience:Generally requires 1-2 years of retail leadership experience. Previous experience in a kennel animal shelter or veterinary setting along with supervisory experience.
Knowledge:Strong understanding of pet care animal welfare regulations and retail operations. Understanding of animal behavior diseases and proper husbandry practices.
Skills:Leadership communication inventory management software and POS systems.
Flexibility:Availability to work evenings weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands
Ability to stand for long periods lift heavy items (e.g. pet food) and work in an environment with animals. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs stand for long hours and work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Care & Safety:Ensure proper feeding watering exercise and care for animals including identifying medical or behavioral issues.
Facility Sanitation:Maintain strict cleaning and disinfection protocols for kennels cages and play areas to maintain a sanitary environment.
Staff Management:Hire train supervise and schedule kennel staff ensuring they adhere to safety policies and high-quality care standards.
Customer Service:Address client inquiries manage reservations and resolve complaints regarding pet care.
Operations Oversight:Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and food maintain equipment and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
Communication:Excellent interpersonal skills to work with customers and lead a team.
Typical Qualifications
High school diploma or GED is generally required.
Degree in animal science or related field is often preferred.
Reliability patience and compassion for animals
Hourly rate $21-24 hour depending on experience
