Location & Schedule
In this position you can expect to work on site primarily at 2855 Tremont Pl. Denver CO 80205. This position will also work onsite at any of Denvers DMV Offices from time to time. Free parking is available.
Who We Are & What Youll Do
The Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for the fiscal health of the DOF leads fiscal analysis and guidance property assessments budgeting accounting functions enforcement of fiscal policies practices and procedures for the entire City and County of Denver. The DOF fulfills the state statutory responsibilities for tax assessment and collection. DOF also manages the Citys debt portfolio and investment portfolio. The DOF commits to delivering these services through a financial structure that reflects the best practices of both the public and private sectors. This commitment promotes better service enhanced performance measures maximum accountability and improved business processes.
About Denver Motor Vehicle
Denver Motor Vehicle (DMV) is authorized as an agent of the State Department of Revenue as outlined in the Colorado Revised Statutes to register and title vehicles and to collect record and deposit all taxes and fees prescribed for vehicles owned or operated by residents and business owners within the City and County of Denver.
Denver Motor Vehicle is seeking a Deputy Director who will actively lead the DMV efforts to implement best practices based on annual goals and the strategic plan manage the shared files and contracts for the DMV collect and manipulate data to create and write relevant reports develop process improvement plans and serve as the departments Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) lead. You will also be charged with leading the DMV Budget DMV Inventory DMV Staff Assistant and Training staff. Your leadership and hard work will ensure that our mission commitment to customer service and efforts towards continual improvement/innovation not only fulfills todays needs but will meet the challenges of the future.
Specifically as the DMV Deputy Director you will:
- Represents the DMVs positions initiatives and interests with a focus on the delivery of superior customer service; ensures staff is sufficiently knowledgeable and dynamic regarding customer service protocols and performance expectations
- Produce and publish a monthly DMV data Dashboard which is used to track and document DMV initiatives goals and performance.
- Implements initiatives and achieves goals objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the DMV
- Optimizes performance of the DMV by meeting or exceeding the established KPI performance benchmarks
- Implements policies programs operating procedures and practices for the DMV and effectively manages operating costs. Ensure all budgets remain at or below established targets
- Coaches mentors and challenges staff. Champions continuous improvement including devising new strategies and new opportunities. Leads staff development initiatives that include training development and succession planning
- Fosters an atmosphere of innovation to challenge the organization to think creatively especially as it relates to positive citizen and customer experience opportunities
- Actively participates in the Departments emergency preparedness and response team(s) to support meeting the Departments public health and environmental responsibilities outlined in the Citys Emergency Operations Plan
- Represents the DMV on local and state committees as a subject matter expert as assigned
- Actively ensure employee engagement initiatives throughout the agency and department.

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience skills and characteristics:
- College degree
- At least 3 years supervisory experience
- Experience writing reports
- Experience using Power BI to capture operational data and create appropriate reports and analysis
- At least 2 years of process improvement experience
- SQL experience
- Lean Six Sigma/Black Belt experience
- Data Analytics experience
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Bachelors Degree in a related field based on a specific position(s).
Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience at the type and level of functional or operational management which must have included management of professional individual contributors.
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
License/Certifications: Requires a valid Drivers License at the time of application.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
