About the Program
The Medicare Mental Health Check-In delivered by St Vincents Health Australia is a landmark national initiative providing free fast and accessible digital mental health support to Australians.
This service delivers evidence-based Low Intensity CBT (LiCBT) to support people experiencing stress distress and anxiety enabling early intervention and better long-term outcomes.

About the Opportunity Identified Multidisciplinary Roles
We are seeking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clinicians across:
Counsellors (ACA or PACFA)
Psychologists (Provisional or General AHPRA)
Social Workers (AASW)
Occupational Therapists (AHPRA)
Mental Health Nurses (AHPRA)
As a LiCBT Practitioner you will:
Deliver structured culturally safe evidence-based mental health support
Work in a virtual-first model (phone video webchat)
Support individuals to build practical skills and resilience early
Contribute to shaping a culturally responsive national service model
This role goes beyond clinical delivery it is about embedding cultural safety representation and lived experience into a national system of care.

What Youll Be Doing
Deliver structured LiCBT interventions tailored to individual needs
Provide culturally safe person-centred care in a digital environment
Conduct risk screening and escalation where required
Develop and monitor goal-based treatment plans
Maintain high-quality clinical documentation
Participate in clinical supervision reflective practice and development
Contribute to service improvement innovation and research
Working Model & Hours
Fully remote role (aligned to VIC or QLD group office)
7 Day Rotating roster:
MondayFriday: 8:00am 10:00pm
Weekends: 10:00am 6:00pm
Mandatory 3-week full-time induction/training (first day onsite)
What Were Looking For
Clinical Capability
Minimum 2 years experience in mental health support
Experience in CBT or structured therapeutic interventions
Ability to deliver goal-oriented evidence-based care
Cultural Capability
Strong understanding of cultural safety and community perspectives
Ability to apply culturally informed approaches in a digital model
Commitment to improving outcomes for First Nations consumers
Communication & Digital Delivery
Strong engagement skills across phone video and online platforms
Confidence working in a virtual care environment
Collaboration & Values
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
Alignment to mission-driven person-centred care
Qualifications & Registration (Flexible Pathways)
We recognise there are multiple pathways into mental health practice including community-led and culturally grounded experience.
You may be considered if you meet one of the following:
Registered / Accredited Pathways
Counsellor ACA Level 2 or PACFA membership
Psychologist Provisional or General Registration (AHPRA)
Social Worker AASW membership
Occupational Therapist AHPRA registration
Mental Health Nurse AHPRA registration
First Nations Equivalent Pathway
We also strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants who have:
Relevant community-based mental health or social and emotional wellbeing experience
Experience working in ACCOs community services or health settings
Completion of relevant qualifications training or certifications (formal or informal)
Demonstrated capability in delivering culturally informed support counselling or wellbeing services
Support pathways supervision and development opportunities will be provided to help you succeed in the role.
