Vessel Manager (LNG and FSRU)
Purpose
The Vessel Manager has the technical management within a ship group headed by a Fleet Manager.
Interrelations
The Vessel Manager reports to the Fleet Manager. The shipboard management of the assigned vessels reports to the Vessel Manager.
In matters related to assigned vessels the Vessel Manager also interrelates with:
Ship staff in connection with briefing visit selection and screening.
Other internal and external support functions
Owner class society insurance handlers and other external bodies.
The Vessel Manager interrelates with assigned Project Team from Docking and Special Projects group for matters related to his vessel Docking Projects
Formal authorities
The Vessel Manager has the authority to:
Approve requisitions originated on the vessel and the issuing of purchase orders for the vessels.
Approve payment within the limit of $ 25000
Delegate authority to the internal support functions
Main responsibilities and tasks
Manager is responsible for the safe efficient and environment conscious operation of the vessels assigned typical 3-4 LNG vessels.
To ensure vessel/s comply with all relevant rules & regulations with special emphasis on the ISM code the applicable ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standard as well as flag state port state and the industrys special requirements and regulations and render support to ships as appropriate.
During the absence of a Vessel Manager the Fleet Manager in the respective Group assumes the responsibility or delegate another back up vessel manager.
He/She shall further:
Give support on matters related to technical operations.
Keep technical and operational statistics.
Attend to additional duties as decided during the annual employee dialogue.
Analyse and respond to Undesired Events.
Participate in evaluation of Shipboard management Systems Review
Arrange Management Reviews and ensure actions decided upon are implemented
Accountabilities
The position will be measured against safe and incident free operation of the assigned vessels and in line with WSM and Client KPIs.
Qualifications
Mandatory requirements
Technical/maritime qualifications with seagoing experience as Chief Engineer on motor LNG vessels preferably XDF engine
or
Maritime degree with Shore based experience as vessel manager of motor LNG vessels and/or FSRU
Shore experience on LNG carrier as vessel manager preferred.
Previous Experience with FSRU will be an added advantage.
Good command of oral and written English.
Advanced computer knowledge.
Environmental focused
Excellent communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills in order to develop close relationships with shipboard staff vessel owners charterers as well as internal and external support functions.
